Well, it's not the first time I've been reading this novel by Erich Maria Remarque and I must say it's definitely my favorite. I'm sure there's no need to speak about Remarque's great style of writing, because it goes without saying.
But I like this book more than the others because of its main character, an outstanding German surgeon Ravic, who lives in Paris as a stateless refugee without any documents. He's more mature and less naive than the others Remarque's characters, like Robert (Three Comrades). And he's not so despaired as Ross (Shadows in Paradise).
