Might do a proper write up, sometime this week. In the meantime, edited highlights:
Cathedrals: Delft (VERY tall tower), Bremen (beautifully painted), Copenhagen (unimpressive and C19th), Roskilde (a mausoleum of the royal family - fascinating).
Wildlife: Visited some elks. Spotted some ostiches, deer and several pheasants with death wishes. Also found a small lizard on our groundsheet in Sweden. Odd. No animals with big teeth.
Boats: Three overnight ferries, a chain ferry to our favourite island, five recovered viking boats, a boat tour of Copenhagen, and a waterride at the Tivoli gardens. Sailed at sunset down the Oslofjord - lovely.
Food and drink: Excellent fruit ciders, dire Swedish aquavit. Soggy fondue, many sandwiches, perfect bacon, boat buffets, Danish pastries and Danish Chinese.
Accomodations: Three cabins, two youth hostels, three campsites.
Stuff done: Saw many motorways, got lost often, Oslo Sculpture Park, Norwegian Resistance museum, Copenhagen musical instrument museum, crossed two immense bridges, failed to find a Max Burger, bought a reindeer skin, visited Aalborg, Fredricstad, Mariestad, and a lakeside castle, the commune of Christiania, Tivoli gardens, had a Swedish sauna, took photos, shopped, cooked, relaxed and laughed.
For once I don't feel like I need a holiday to recover from my holiday. I'm not thinking about tomorrow until we get there.
