We've All Got Our Junk.....And My Junk Is You

I saw Spring Awakening yesterday and it was absolutely phenomenal. Apparently the couple in front of us didn't think so....they left at intermission (the wife talked to us before she made her decision). She didn't want to see something sad, she'd rather see Legally Blonde (wtf).

Note to Broadway show goers: Research the show (particularly the PLOT) before you spend over $100 per ticket and wind up leaving half way through it.

Anyway, if you're looking for a Broadway show to see Spring Awakening is amazingly beautiful.

School is going well...I can't believe I only have three weeks left at the elementary school...I feel like it's going by so fast. I'm kind of frustrated hopwever. I feel like in every lesson I teach I'm making some of the same mistakes. I know those mistakes will change with experience but I'm really trying my hardest to take every suggestion my sponsor teacher makes and implement them right away. Jessica is awesome though, when I expressed my concern about this. She said that with time ane experience those mistakes won't happen anymore.

Things with my grandfather are okay I guess. The cancer from his tumor didn't spread to his muscle which is good. He's still getting chemo to make sure all the cells around where the tumor was are gone. Also, last night while I was on the train coming back from the city I got a call from my grandmother saying he was back in the hospital because he had blood clots on his lungs. Apparently the doctor said this was completely normal because he really hasn't been moving around much. Hopefully it is normal and nothing to be worried about.

Exciting news! My dad told me what teachers are putting in their paperwork to retire after the 2008-09 school year in his district (the year I get my masters). Two of those teachers are the 9th and 10th grade band teachers. The band teacher at my dad's school right now will ultimately take Dennis' (10th grade band teacher) job. This leaves a band spot open at the middle school my dad teaches at!!I've always wanted to teach middle school aged kids (I find their raging hormones something fun to battle) as well as beginners, and in Brentwood they start their instrumental program in 7th grade, so it's pretty perfect. Anyway I am super excited to see what happens, and see if they would put a father/daughter team in the same building. They do have a lot of familial situations in Brentwood (husband and wife, father/son, etc.) and the Director of Music is really big into having families within departments. So hopefully this will all turn out for the best and I'll have a job.

That's really all that's going on right now....I have off tomorrow for Columbus Day which is nice. Right now I'm going to make breakfast and clean the house.

Happy Columbus Day everyone!!!!
