Life is wonderful. Of course it would be better if I didn’t have to endure a two week menstrual cycle due to my birth control messing up and the horrible allergies I’ve been having . . .
I have just completed the best summer of my life, so far. I did so much this summer, hung out with so many old friends and made some new ones. It is awesome how we can just pick up where we left off with some people that we haven’t talked to in two years like there was never any separation. Like, for example, Alex, Bandomer, Richard, Lacy, Sterns . . . all of which are awesome wonderful people that I have had the pleasure of getting to know even better. I’ve had some crazy late night (morning) parties where we just sat around talking into all hours of the morning. Then there is Chris . . . =D
It all started with a boring day of clicking link after link on my Xanga and I came across someone that I had marched next to last Fall in marching band. I commented on his post and he commented on mine and one day he IMed me. I didn’t know anything about him so we were just chatting a little and I was whining (like I tend to do) that no one would take me to go see The Notebook, I needed a guy to take me, I had one in mind but Chris stepped up first. He drove all the way down from Mesquite (about 45 minutes from Arlington) in the pouring rain to take me to see this movie. The next weekend he called me and asked me if I wanted to go to lunch, who would refuse? We went to Chili’s (where else?!) and he left, but an hour later he called back and asked said something along the lines of “I don’t know why I didn’t ask you later, but what are you doing the rest of the day?” Of course, I had nothing planned, so he drove back that evening and we went and played miniature golf. We got to talking and we realized that I had never had a Slurpee from 7-11 so we made a quick stop and yet another in the parking lot of Seguin High School where he proceeded to teach me how to drive his standard. That did it for me, I was hooked and just had to reel me in, no one would even let me touch their precious cars thinking that I would demolish it, and I did very well thank you very much! We went back to my house and watched the end of the Rangers game (you know, back in the summer when they were actually doing good) and we stayed up chatting until about 1 AM. The next weekend he was going to Virginia with his family and the next I was going to Florida with mine so I figured that’s the reason nothing really happened, or at least that’s what I’d like to believe.
When I got back to school I excepted a little more recognition out of him, and even got a little hurt when he seemed to be ignoring me and hanging out with his KKY buddies all the time. I actually decided to go to some of the band camp social events with some of my new friends this year, too try to enjoy band and be more social. One night we went to the bowling alley and he came by to say hi and we talked, basically excluding everyone else, for a couple of hours. It was nice! They understood. He called one afternoon when we had dinner off just to see what I was doing and so that maybe he could join, which he did. By this time, all my friends were like, “what’s up?” Haha. It went on like that for awhile. We ate lunch together the first couple of days of school, before he started Chamber Winds that meets the only free hour I have for lunch, and he would always eat dinner with us after band practice. Although, I will admit it was getting a little annoying waiting to see if anything would come of it. Last week, I told him that some of us were going to go to Marble Slab (yes! Nacogdoches has a Marble Slab now!!!) and then to Great Escape at the Baptist Church (just a quick explanation = it’s a nondenominational worship/praise service for college students that meets every Wednesday at 9:00). I really love going and I thought he would too. He didn’t sound too thrilled but he said he would go. Afterwards we were all standing around the lobby of my dorm talking, it was getting pretty late, so he asked me if I would walk him to his car (I think he was kidding . . . ), I walked him to the front door, but I guess it was just his plan to get everyone else to go upstairs so that we could talk alone.
I was talking to Courtney Millner and Johnny Reagan in the cafeteria earlier that day, when I stopped by to check out her new engagement ring, and told Johnny that I had a “prospect” in band named Chris. Turns out that they know each other, and that Chris and Johnny live two doors down from each other in Maise Hall. Well, Johnny opened his big mouth and told Chris and I guess that was just the assurance he needed to ask me out officially. We’ve been together since the 1st of September now and it is awesome!
We spent all weekend together; everyone else went home over the Labor Day holiday anyway. We spent the majority of the time fixing my computer, but Saturday he took me to Red Lobster (+20 points!) and choose to watch a chick flick with me (+100 points!!!). The dorm has stupid visitation hours but we just hung out until they forced us apart at 2 AM.
It’s so awesome having a boyfriend on campus. He brought me some Benadryl last night for my allergies and just to talk for a minute. What’s even greater, is that he doesn’t live that far away from me when I go home so that we can still pretty much be together and see each other over holidays and summer break (I really hope it lasts that long!) So regardless of everything I am really excited about this one, as you can probably tell! What’s even greater, is that all of my friends, at least the ones here, really like him, which is a big step up from the past boyfriends I’ve had.
:: Now Quach we will have to start competing! Nah, I love listening to your stories, now hopefully I’ll some to share back! ::
I’m out . . . band practice at 4 and Great Escape at 9. Later!!!
XOXO
