Yesterday when I talked to J Greg, he was saying that what made a good performer is how fast they can recover. So, although I was really upset yesterday, I managed to get myself back to the music school and practice another couple of hours (making a total of about 4.5 with the performance), and those hours were productive and tear-free. Today I played with Devin in my lesson and my teacher said, "You sound like a different player than I heard yesterday. This sounds great!" so that's good. I also had quintet and another chamber rehearsal today... (making my playing time over 7 hours today). I'm feeling in really good shape and like this Friday's chamber performance is going to be a success. That is my goal for the week... just bust my ass and play well Friday to compensate for this Monday and feel good about myself again... it's going to work dammit! If only Tucson were not the worst city in the country for reeds. I love that it's in the 80s with no humidity and all, but reeds really don't appreciate that so much. I'm just glad I'm taking the right attitude about this and forcing myself towards the positive rather than the negative. Friday WILL go well. =)
Also in the plus column, I've been doing really well with food for the past couple weeks. Grocery shopping has gotten so boring since I get nothing but the same crap all the time (chicken, tuna, veggies, liquid eggs, low-carb yogurt, etc) but I'm not eating cheese and I'm only having bread occassionally. I'm still trying to get in a workout routine, but today I did walk (quickly) over 4.5 miles, so that's at least something.
Lastly, I can't remember if I mentioned, I'm having a birthday party on Friday (since we have a concert Friday and my birthday is Saturday). I'm very excited about it, although my buddy Evan cannot come =(.
