Woo, what a weekend! IMEA was awesome.

On Thursday, I waited for 3 hours to audition, watched a soap opera and Dr. Phil with Jori in our hotel room, and ate a vending machine-lunch of Gardetto's snack mix and Skittles. That probably wins the award for "Worst Meal I've Ever Eaten."

In the Honors Band we played American Salute, among other pieces. None of the literature was really too special, although we played a song with a movement called "Mambo Loco" which was fun. But I sat next to some cool dudes, one of whom is in CYCO, so that made it enjoyable.

The Honors Orchestra played The Pines of Rome, which was absolutely incredible. It made me want to cry with happiness. Orchestral music is love.

The jazz concert was great; there was a vocal jazz ensemble, and their soloists were amazing. I wish I could sing. Kevin's band was really good; we took the lead trombonist with us to dinner one night and he spilled a milkshake in our van.

Miss Sampson and Mr. K were there, too. Talked to Miss Sampson after the jazz concert, and hid from Mr. K when we were at a stop light and he walked to the corner.

I was never more aware, though, how tiring sitting in rehearsals for 7 hours can be. I'm still catching up as far as rest goes. And make-up work, too.
