After a full week of attending these
stupid parties and being sent home or letting myself out, I was not
going to attend one of them. We were going to break the law today.
The law was simple. No flashmobs of
any kind. No dancing in a public area. No resistance. No hiding your
identity/wearing a mask. No provocative or too conservative clothing.
(Or stripping) As in, don't wear bikinis out in public unless at a
swimming pool, and don't wear pants or shirts that are 5times your
size.
We called it a prank. We got the idea
from an old movie. We all would meet on the subway and start dancing
one by one. Before the actual dancing though, we would put on masks.
Doing the most obnoxious and disturbing dance moves. We were a
flashmob; one about resistance. We are called The Insurgents but
shortened it to 8+.
After that, we would run off the train
leaving our spray painter behind. He would be wearing a suit and have
a briefcase filled with the colors. Brown, green, black, and red,
white, blue. He would paint 8+ in a camouflage style then make a
quick USA flag. Our old flag.
In order to do this though, I had to
miss the party. I didn't care, I would anyway.
We set up video cameras and ran off
the subway with them after the mob then ran back home. I edited the
videos and posted a final one to YouTube. We also had a picture of
the spray paint at the end. Once the video was uploaded, we moved
locations. Except me. I wasn't able to. That dictator would know. I'd
rather just stay here.
But what I didn't expect was the next
night as I was getting ready to go to bed, having someone knock on my
door. Loudly. Rudely. I decided to ignore it. Then it kept happening.
I had a bad feeling and I grabbed my pocketknife, cut open a hole in
my mattress and shoved my laptop inside, along with any 8+ stuff that
I had. I grabbed a needle and thread and did a messing sowing as the
knocking became more and more impatient.
They can't get in though. So I decided
to go to sleep. I turned my bedroom lights off and layed myself down
with the blankets over top of me. The knocking stopped and I felt
relieved for a few minutes. I started to drift off to sleep until I
heard a large crash. My door was down.
“Army! You are under arrest and will
be put to death! We are coming in!” A voice screamed. I shot up and
my door was broken down, letting light flicker in the room and the
light was turned on. I was grabbed fiercely out of my warm bed and
practically being thrown around like a rag-doll.
“Get away from me!” I screamed
trying to break free. “Let me go! I didn't do anything! Let me go,
this hurts!!!” I screamed louder and louder. I pushed a man away
and ran into my living room just to be pushed to the ground. “Stop!!
It hurts!!! I didn't do anything!!!” I screamed louder. My voice
was shrill and annoying.
“You have broken the law! You are in
an illegal movement against our leader. You are under arrest and will
receive death!” They screamed back at me. They grabbed me hard and
I kicked their nuts, leaving them in pain. More came in though,
trying to get me to come with them a little more peacefully.
“Let me go!!! YOU'RE HURTING ME!!! I
HATE YOU ALL!!!!!” I screamed with tears rolling down my face. I
was afraid. I didn't want to leave so soon without helping. My
parents told me to change the new country and I was going to.
“I HATE YOU!!!” They grabbed my
arms and legs and started to carry me out that way until I squirmed
and fell onto the floor. Hard. I lost then.
“Stop right this instant!” A voice
ordered. Everything was silent. “I did not order this. She is
coming with me.” The owner of the voice helped me stand on my feet
and walked me to their vehicle. I couldn't see yet. It was blurry.
But I knew who the voice was. It was the Dictator.
“You weren't at the party yesterday.
Or tonight.” He said as the car began to move. “Are part of 8+?”
He asked me. “I didn't mean for you to get hurt, I wanted to talk
to you about it. Did your family pressure you into this? Why would
your parents make you--”
“You don't know me or my life so
shut up and don't assume you know everything!” I screamed.
“Why are you screaming at me?” He
asked.
“BECAUSE I HATE YOU!! I HATE YOU!!!”
I screamed looking towards him. My vision was even worse now, filled
with tears that began to rain down my face.
“Why do you hate me? I've done
nothing--”
“YOU TOOK MY FAMILY AWAY FROM ME YOU
MOTHER FUCKER!!! I HATE YOU!!!!!” I screamed at him. It felt good
to get all the built up anger out.
“But you said your family...”
“I am part of the 8+! They are my
only family left! You killed their parents too and now we have
nothing but each other. You killed ALL of our families except us.
Only because you thought we could be taught differently! But you
killed my 8year old LITTLE SISTER!!! YOU KILLED HER!!! I HATE
YOU!!!!!” I screamed hitting his chest. It wasn't hard. More like I
was still in denial. “I hate you.... I hate you... I hate you....”
I kept crying.
I was pulled into his arms and I kept
crying. It was no longer as intense as it was but it was still there.
“You are so defenseless when you cry....” He said softly and with
disbelief. “You always seemed so strong... I didn't know you
carried such a burden, I--” He cut himself off.
He seemed to change his aura,
feelings, expressions, and actions by this discovery. He seemed
calmer, nicer, and sorry. I'm just confused.
Choi led me into the mansion then into
a room and had me rest in there for the night. “You might not go
back home. I didn't know that they were gonna try and kill you. I had
no order to. They took it into their own hands and I don't want that
happening.” He said as he brought the blankets over my body. “Go
to sleep for now, I will check on you in the morning.” He said.
He sang a song to me about a bird that
dreamed of flying and being free. But it had a broken wing and was
trapped in a small box so it couldn't. Until another bird came to
help the bird, the bird could dream about the freedom it had. It was
one my mother sang to me. One I sang to my little sister. My little
sister would have sang it.
He left and turned the lights off. I
turned my head and the clock read 11:11 PM. Make a wish.
