Chapter Eight
“I am very thankful that God has given me a genius like you, Kenji.” Joseph remarked which made Kenji feel so much flattered. The old man felt it and he mentally laughed it out. But, you’ll forever be my subordinate. Kenji, on the other hand, was busy reading the files on the memory chip.
Twenty-five Years Ago
“Serizawa Kenji, you are a genius and I’m looking up on you. You’ve got great wisdom and talent.” The old hospital director said as he looked at the young promising doctor who was smiling brightly.
“Thank you, Director.”
“But, as much as I respect you and everything you’ve done in the field of Science, I respect God and the Church with all my heart and soul.”
“What do you mean?”
“Planting memory chips inside a human’s brain is clearly against the rules. I know this is really a great discovery but I don’t want to test God.”
“But, this is the future! I tell you, Director. Let me prove it!”
“I’m sorry.”
He walked out of the office, head down and went straight to his laboratory. Driven by grief and his will to prove himself and his discovery to the world, Kenji worked harder in his laboratory. All-day and all-night, he won’t take a break even if he knows he needs it. He reread the thickest books any human eyes could see just to make them accept his work; he didn’t even notice that he was up for thirty-six hours straight. When he had finished rereading the last paragraph of the last page, he glanced at his wrist watch and knowing how many hours he spent without any break, he decided to step outside and breathe some fresh air.
It was already past midnight, he walked at the lawns of green grasses of the hospital, mainly for visitors and patients as he sat at the cold late night grass, feeling the dew through his skin. He breathed hard, looked up the skies to stare at the stars that seemed to be growing lesser in population day-by-day just like how hope fades for him to achieve his dream: make a change, in any way. Feeling the slight pain in his heart, he closed his eyes. He thought that his tear started pouring from his eyes but then, he later realized that he was crying in the rain.
“HELP! HELP!” Someone behind shouted continuously, interrupting his peaceful thoughts. Without any hesitation, he looked behind, eyebrows twitched, a little annoyed encountering someone crying for help in the rain late at night and interrupting his peace of mind. He then realized that it was a woman, a pregnant woman. Kenji stood up in a second and ran onto the woman, realizing she can blow up at any moment.
“Miss, miss, calm down, I am a doctor; I’m here to help you.” Kenji assured the woman who was fainting as droplets of blood come out from her.
“Please help me.” Her weak voice pleads, making him worried.
“Yes, I will so please hang on. All you got to do right now is pray for the both of you.”
He carried her as much as he can as he hurried them towards the nearest way inside, he ran faster as the other nurses spotted him and they hastily readied a stretcher for the poor woman.
He waited outside the Emergency Room, thanked the heavens that there were available doctors to help her give birth since it wasn’t his specialty and that he really didn’t like the vulnerability of being the first one to hold the child that came straight from the womb. After a while, the doctor in-charge of the woman came out.
“Dr. Serizawa, we’re very thankful that you were there when she was already about to give birth. If no one spotted her along her way, this might be a complete failure now.”
“That’s nothing.” He smiled at the doctor. “Can I see the child?”
The doctor simply nodded and left.
He went inside; the woman was asleep as the child was peacefully sleeping in the hospital incubator nearby.
Even he wasn’t the one who helped the woman give birth, he felt light that he saved someone. And then, his thoughts before came back, asking himself why is he here not doing his work. And so, he had new plans in a second.
He looked at the child as if the predator finally targeted a prey; he went nearer and rolled the incubator outside. When he was already there, he was thankful no one was around who was familiar with what happened earlier. He headed to the nearest elevator and to his laboratory. When he already reached his lab, he then readied his sterilized tools and his invention.
“I’m going to prove to you that this is the future.”
He activated the memory chip on the card reader and glanced at the monitor. He opened the first file.
“Show Time.” Joseph smirked.
Suddenly, the computer had troubles, the lights went off, it went blackout. Talking about karma…
“Oh my! Why does it have to be today!?!” Kenji growled in frustration.
“This is only natural, any solutions for this?”
“We have to get her back.”

Johnny roamed around his office, walking back and forth; arms folded against his chest, wondering what things were left not in order, about Olivia.
Now that the past is catching up with the present, he can’t falsify to himself his feelings anymore, the guilt, the pain of how and why he lost Olivia and their child.
He calmed himself down as he sat at his chair and got a hold of his phone. He searched seriously a particular name from his entire phone directory, still hesitating if he should do what’s on his mind. Not wanting to regret in anyway, he just pressed the call button.
“Detective Yamada Ryu speaking.”
“It’s been a while, this is Johnny Kitagawa.”
“Oh, hey! It’s been eighte-“
“I want to get straight, Yamada-san.”
“Oh-Okay.”
“I want you to investigate this certain Aikawa Yuri.”
“Any leads?”
“She’s working for me. I just want to get some information about her.”
“Okay, I’ll call you when I can already give you the files.”
He cut off the line before he can get any response, the eagerness to know Aikawa Yuri can be seen through his eyes. It would be impossible that she’s anywhere connected to her but then, his move was to make sure…
***
Yuri went to the backstage right after the Arashi’s manager had asked for her assistance towards the storage room. She was a bit sad because her Masaki was practicing his single on stage but then, work hours are still running.
“Aikawa-san, can you find the costume piece from the storage room?”
“Oh, sure.”
“I’m sorry, you were the only one I thought of.”
“No problems.” She smiled at Manager-san as she went to the storage room.
Storage room will always be a Storage room. That’s what she learned as she stepped inside the dusty room full of cobwebs wondering why did a costume suddenly been here but, work is work.
Meanwhile…
“Sho-chan!” Ohno called at him.
“Why?”
“Can you do a little favor for me?”
“What is it?”
“The staff allowed me to have the bottle tubes from the storage room but it’s already my turn for the solo practice.”
“I’ll get it for you?”
“Yes, please? Please? Please?” He clapped his hands and bowed to him. Ohno is the real deal drama king, the natural one.
Sometimes, Sho would get confused if their Riida is really a year older than him and that why is he so patient for the bottle tubes from the storage room since it can be bought in paint stuff shops. Well, Ohno is Ohno.
“Okay.”
“Thanks Sho-chan!”
“Uhh… Riida, what does a bottle tube look like???” He scratched his head as Riida gave him a smirk.
“The caps shape like buttons. By the way, AD-san said it was arranged vertically.”
It can’t be helped since for the past ten minutes, he has his mind thinking somewhere out there in the middle of nowhere to kill time since the Heavens had just heard his prayer, it’d be rude to decline. Is Riida an angel? He got up from his seat and headed towards the backstage storage room. As he reached the door, he decided not to knock since there might not be anyone there. He opened the light though the switch but then it didn’t worked, it just clicked, good thing he brought a flashlight with him. He opened it but, talking about luck, he realized it was too light. He opened it, finding there was no battery inserted.
“Mou!” He cursed in a little voice as he made steps towards a direction he couldn’t see where to. He extended his hands to let it feel where he is and since the bottle tubes seemed easy to find with Ohno’s instructions, he had his criteria to get it: it shaped like buttons; circle and arranged vertically.
“Bottle tubes, bottle tubes.” He repeatedly whispered as his hands roamed around, maybe if there was light, he will look like a moving scarecrow with his position. He then moved his hands up and down slowly since it was arranged vertically. He walked and walked as if he is to eternity. His pattern was continuous.
THUG!
His hands felt something in his front.
CIRCLE and VERTICALLY ARRANGED… It must be the caps…
Sure with what he felt, he then grabbed the caps from the top most to the bottom until he can no longer feel any circle thing. He then moved when the place became lit. He looked up and saw that the switch was in the center of the light. Talking about being unlucky again… He smirked and looked back realizing he wasn’t alone.
“Yuri?”
“Sho, why did you unbutton me?” Yuri asked, eyebrows twitched as if it was nearly connected to each other.
“I-I-Yuri-“ He couldn’t find the right words as his sight was going back and fort the thing he was holding, the literal buttons, not to mention it was Yuri’s blouse’s buttons and that she was half-naked in front of him. “Yuri…”
“PERVERT!”
The last thing he knew, something REALLY hard punched his cheeks.

“Otosan, Okaeri.” Eri said as she welcomed her father by giving a hug.
“Tadaima, Eri.” He smiled as the two walked towards the long dining table.
“I’ve got something to tell.”
“What is it, Otosan?”
“It’s now time for you to enter the scene.”
“Show time?”
***Author’s Note***
This chapter is crappy, I think. But, I am still hoping for feedbacks so that I can know you’re views towards the story.
BLACKOUT - You deserve it, Joseph and Kenji!
What will Johnny find out about Yuri? Hmmm…
Sho! Why did you unbutton Yuri’s blouse? Ohno said button-like caps but not really buttons, right? OMG.
And, lastly, it’s Eri’s turn to rise and who’s going to fall?
Find out on the next update. Ja Ne!
