i admire your loyalty; i only wish he felt the same way.
Fannishly, something happened to me in the last six months - I fell hard for Supernatural and especially for Destiel.
Now, I always liked it but it’s been a slow build from S4 when Kripke was showrunner and Castiel appeared as an angel with a haughty attitude towards humans. And the show and this ship remained on my backburner where it already was as Sera Gamble took over - once she expressed interest in writing “the epic love story of Sam and Dean,” I knew she was never going to take Destiel canon. Yet, for all I disagree with the hurt / comfort tone she brought to the show, I do have to admit - and yes she was doing it mostly to advance Wincest - she did write some of the most important episodes for the building up and tearing down of Dean’s heteronormative masculinity, episodes such as “Dream a Little Dream of Me” (3x10).
But, Jeremy Carver is the showrunner now and he’s very sympathetic to Castiel and all things related to Castiel - my fave episode of his is “The Rapture” (4x20) and he’s written “The Sacrifice” (finale, 8x23) And his BFF is Ben Edlund and he, like Gamble, likes deconstructing Dean - “On the Head of a Pin” (4x16) and “The End” (5x04) and he’s writing “The Great Escapist” (8x21).
In posts looking for proof of bisexual Dean, they most often pull from episodes by Gamble, Carver and Edlund and for Destiel, mostly from episodes by Carver and Edlund. So while I don’t think Destiel will become canon - if Carver does, I wonder if it’ll be a series finale thing by the way he and et al are fishing for fan reaction on twitter - I like to think this show is headed towards Castiel doing something big and profound for Dean this season in the finale. And then come back to me for S9 and ask me again if this show is queerbaiting.

- Nikita. Though I might move this to the above list with all my feels for Nikita and Amanda.
- The Eagle. All the meta and all the history, gimme gimme gimme.
- Vikings. Ditto what I said above with The Eagle and adding that I’m mostly in this to watch heathens and non-heathens interacting and clashing with each other.
- Things I watch but don’t care much for:
- Beauty and the Beast. Well, I love the entire cast . . . except Vincent Keller played by Jay Ryan. Is Ryan always such a bad actor?
- Castle. I could do with more Beckett and less Castle and I wish the show would treat Beckett as the main character and Castle as the mere filter through which we are presented with Beckett.
- The Vampire Diaries. Each permanent death sucks my will to watch this show; likewise, each non-permanent death also sucks my will to watch.
