A gallery of writers and typewriters.
Some of the ones that struck me:
Sylvia Plath: I always imagined her in a windowless room. And there’s an intensity in her face that I think is better for a windowless room than an outdoor patio chair. Still, I hope that photo isn’t a fluke and that she did get to type outdoors often.
Ernest Hemmingway: That’s exactly how I imagined him. I always imagined he’d feel stifled and trapped in an indoor setting.
Leonard Cohen: Love the room that is spartan bare except for the guitar within reach. If I had my way, my writing space would be that spartan - with only a notebook and pens within my reach.
Marlon Brando: Not a writer. But do we care? Especially with the cat in the pic?
Langston Huges: So happy! The tortured artist is such a stereotype that it’s nice to see an author with a smile every now and then.
Alfred Hitchcock: At the bar, the alcohol is near but out of reach. Seems appropriate.
Saul Bellow: What’s with the empty bookcases behind him?
That was nice. But maybe this weekend, I’ll look for a gallery of writers and their notebooks / pens. If you saw my notebook / pen collection, you’d know the fetish I have for them. ;-)
