i completely agree with laura. you cannot change people's minds at all. if they care about you and how you feel towards things, they'll stop drinking but make sure to give them a good reason. and asking them to just stop is pretty much rude. it's not your decision, it's their's. no one likes being told what to do.

yeah but he used to hate it too. up until way recently. so im not trying to change his mind, just get him to think how he used to again

i still think that if you tell him that you really dont want him to drink and tell him why.
if he cares about you he wont drink.
