UK MEET 2013 news!
You spoke, we listened!
The UK Meet team met up this weekend and put a first draft plan together for the 2013 event. (And ended up with a 'to do' list as long as our arms but you didn't need to know that, did you?)
In response to previous years' feedback, the 2013 UK Meet will run over the whole weekend, from the Friday night social events to the last goodbyes on Sunday afternoon. You can come for either or both days. There will be plenty for established authors, wannabee/fledgling authors, readers, bloggers...including an extended Buffet of Banter. What's the Buffet? Small discussion groups where you can talk about some of the more esoteric aspects of our genre. In 2012 we had such delights as shapeshifters and BDSM: in 2013 we'll not only have a 'no selling here!' readers-only table for discussing the books you love/hate, but we'll be canvassing attendees so we can put on a couple of 'by popular request' tables.
Of course we'll still have the well-regarded 'industry' sessions on such diverse topics as self-publishing 101 and how to make writing humour work. There will be pre-booked 1 to 1 mentoring sessions with authors, chances to win being a character in an upcoming book and lots more.
The big launch will be in early January, when the event programme (currently in fourth draft!) goes live, as do the booking details.
