Day 24 → Whatever tickles your fancy
There's a big interview with Dave Grohl (otherwise known as God) in this month's MOJO magazine. He takes about 'putting himself out there' too much, so he's starting keeping more to himself in the songs he writes, which lets people interpret songs their own way.
There are loads of songs that mean something to me, that I don't think are the same as what the person writing them was thinking at the time (does that make any sense?). So this quote is quite reasurring.
"There’s a wonderful part to song-writing that perhaps everyone could relate to a lyric for their own reason, so that when we go out and play, say, Best Of You for 80,000 people maybe they’re singing along for 80,000 different reasons. Because you know what, you’re gonna sing a song a lot f**king louder for your reason than mine."
