Bad title, I know.
I'm back to talk about k-pop again so bear with me, because we have a hothothot debut and a chillchillchill comeback to talk about today LEGGO SWAG
SM Entertaintment, one of the three biggest k-pop companies, have just debuted a new band - Red Velvet! It's been 5 years since SM debuted an all-female band, so this is a pretty huge deal to the k-pop world. And lemme tell ya mmkay, this band is making me happy already. Pun intended.
Their debut song is called "Happiness" and it sure is very happy. Their concept is that all four members have different colored hair: Irene is pink, Seulgi is yellow, Wendy is blue and Joy is green. That way it's easier to tell them apart tbqh, so thank SM for that.

Let's talk about the song. This is a really great debut song in my opinion, it's super cheerful and unique. It has impressing singing in it, some rap parts, a catchy melody and it's overall a powerful song. Not the WOOOOW MIND = BLOWN-powerful kind of song, it's more powerful and...happy...yeah..
They sing about their mom in this song too, which I find endearing! "I wake up in the morning and tell my mom that I love her" and "She may nag a lot but my mom says she loves me the most in this world" THAT. IS. SO. CUTE. OMG. Things like that make me even more happy since I personally have a very loving mom (HEJ MAMMA LÄSTE DU DET DÄR DET VAR SOM ATT INDIREKT SÄGA ATT JAG ÄLSKAR DIG FÖR DET ÄR FÖR PINSAMT FÖR ATT SÄGA DET IRL OKEJ DON'T H8).
I really like the beggining when Seulgi says "Sometimes you gotta be bold, just rock the world" with cheerful singing going on in the background. Now that's how you begin a song! The overall message in this song is also something we need more of in the k-pop world, that only you can find your own happiness by throwing away the negative things in this world and focusing on the positives, that when you have the happiness you'll be happy that you are you and that you've gone your own way without any regrets. A positive song like this is not common, only positive love songs exists which I've had enough of gdi.
The music video is also very cool? Like, how is this a SM video??
It's not the same old dance in a flashy room with a few close-ups music video, this music video actually has a few sets and it moves around from place to place. It's really colorful too! I very like colorful yes good.
All in all this debut is awesome. I look forward to hearing more from Red Velvet 'cause tHEY SLAYIN'
Now to HIGH4's softish comeback! I like this song so much, you have no idea. Even I have no idea wha-
This is HIGH4's first comeback, following their debut this year. Just like their debut song, they worked with a female solo singer for "A Little Close", a groovy R&B track showcasing the members soft vocals mixed with Lim Kim's unique voice. It's a rather autumy song with it's laid back sound and overall chill feel. I'm a huge fan of chill R&B songs, so this is something that I will be listening to all autum!

The lyrics of this song speak of how two people want to become closer even though it's awkward. I don't know how to explain it, but the korean title is sung in the chorus and it's basically about not talking formally to each other to get closer. Something like that. I like the way this song is written, the lyrics are pretty interesting and everything just fits so well together. Well, not the "YOU GOTTA SWAP THE TALK, YOU GOTTA FLIP THE FLOP"
come on Alex
did you have to say that
The music video is not as interesting as Red Velvet's MV, but I like the soft feeling of it and the colors fit perfectly with the feel of the song. Job well done.
That's about it? Enjoy the remaining time of this sunday and I wish you a very good week ahead. I guess I'll write a post about my Bangtan concert experience tomorrow or something if I'm not too lazy, until then - everything is good music and nothing hurts. Farewell~~
