AmadeuS

So TOPP DOGG released their 3rd mini-album [AmadeuS] a few days ago, and guess what I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT IT. Here we go.
This album is pretty much based off the movie Amadeus where Mozart is a little douche and Salieri is so done with Mozart's attitude towards music and all that ish. The concept is well thought out - TOPP DOGG being Salieri, the less known band who doesn't get recognized for their music because they're not as popular as other big bands, in this case represented by Mozart.
They've incorperated this into the music video very well, B-JOO plays the part of Mozart (curly hair, cocky expressions) while Hansol plays the part of Salieri (the dark and mysterious one who looks extremely pissed off throughout the whole video, me likey). They have an epic music battle, and SPOILER ALERT: B-JOO (Mozart) wins in the end. So sad.
Tbqh this concept rocks and the person who begs to differ shall be hung by the neck until dead. Or something like that LET'S REVIEW THE ALBUM SHALL WE?

So starting off with the intro, which is called "Intro" (omfg stardom don't overdo yourself with the clever names), I'm already dead. It's only an instrumental, but fear not for it's an epic one! We can hear some heavy drums and thrilling violins mixed together with an electric guitar, a trap beat and a little bit of dubstep. Doesn't that sound like an interesting mixture of genres? And the fact that it all just fits so perfectly?? I just- GAH.

Next song is "Amadeus", another epic song. This song starts off with a simular sound to the intro, but with a small difference in the melody and what not. The structure of this song is pretty damn good, and hOLY SHIT GOHN'S VOICE. My favorite parts in this song are B-JOO's bridge parts and the dubstep breakdown where someone (Yano? Xero?) is screaming stuff. "ANDANTE, MODERATO, CRESCENDO" that part n'am sayin'. On top of that the chorus is really catchy and the lyrics are so smart. The people who made this song deserves to get a high-five from Gudrun Schyman. The whole song is just so brilliantly done, I get a mental boner everytime I listen to it. Yes, that is a thing.

Now to the title track, "TOPDOG". Before I start; holy vaginas this is an AWESOME SONG.
This song opens with Mozart's Symphony No. 25 in G minor, then the beat drops and the hip hop feel takes over. Not something you would expect from a k-pop band, am I right? The chorus is completely free from Mozart though, instead of the classical music there's a heavy beat, contemporary music and the extremely deep and amazing lyrics "T.O. double P. D.O. double G. (TOPP DOGG)". What did you say your band name was again? Silly me can't remember it!
This song has a lot of singing in it compared to their previously released title tracks which consists of a lot of rapping. I have no problem with the singing, but Jenissi's part was way too short. He got like 8 seconds or something? Gdi Stardom, get your shit together. *sigh x14387648972934*
The epicness is there throughout the whole song, and the bass is no joke. It's not a perfect song, it could've been better, but I'll still give it FEM UTAV FEM TOAST, KANONKUL. To get a really good taste of how great the music actually is in this song, one can listen to the instrumental which is the last song on the album.

The last song on this album (not counting in the instrumental okay) is "Salieri". This song is really catchy, cocky, fun and full of attitude. It's more of a rap song, since there's like no singing in it whatsoever. This song is also the only song on the album that doesn't have any orchestra in it, but it's okay, it's special in its own way :')
It starts off with a fun saxophone which continues throughout the song, then the beat and bass kicks in and we have ourselves a bunch of dead ToppKlasses all over the world because this song is slayin'. What sticks out in this song is the chorus, the bass is slow and the whole chorus just screams of attitude. In the pre-chorus, before the bass drops, the lyrics build up to the drop with the lyrics "the gap is closing, I'll take a jab towards you. You know everything once you start emptying, now put your hands up and scream". I just wanted to point that out because it's so...epic.
The lyrics as a whole are really good actually, they speak of the inferior Salieri who goes his own way and knows that his power lies in his inferiority. And vulgarity. And cowardice. And disgrace. Basically that they won't let anyone break them because they know that they're just as good as everyone else (maybe even better?) and that they will take every chance they get to prove it.
Long story short; I like everything about this song, even the abrupt ending. The only downside was that it actually ended, but the ending was like they flipped off all the people that doubts them. I like that, it's so hep hap.

Quick summary: hip hop + classical music = club can't even handle. I've used the word epic everywhere in this text so it's a given that I'll use the word to describe the album - AmadeuS is an epic album. Short but epic. Epic epic epic.
Everything is TOPP DOGG and nothing hurts, goodbye!
