My nephew's birthday kinda crept up on us, despite having a month's notice. With a party starting in the afternoon, Hubby and I made a quick trip to Orchard to pick up his present. We cut it a little too close this year, and paid the price by trudging through the mall for 2 hours.
Finally got him something which I liked (that's important so that I can play the toy with him) and made our way to help prepare the party venue - Christmas tree in tow.
The birthday boy had a nice nap till the time his party was supposed to start, so he bounced into the hall with a fairly-royal "hello everybody" greeting.
He had invited his class of about 12 kids from his pre-school, as well as kids of my brother/sis-in-law's friends. There must have been like 18-20 excitable (read: screaming) kids in a packed hall at one point in time.
Fortunately for us, grand-auntie is a pre-school teacher at Evan's school. She was the designated game master and the kids ended up having a ball of a time.
We were beat by the time we helped my bro/sis-in-law to lug all his presents up to the apartment. (Hubby commented that Evan probably received more presents in one day than he had ever in his 27 years). This, despite the fact that Evan had 12 additional helpers - 2 sets Grandparents, 1 Uncle and gf, 2 aunties and Hubby/bf and 1 grand-auntie and hubby.
Can't imagine what it would be like if we had to go it alone when it came to our child's birthday party next time!
family,
birthday
