My mother has discovered that her local library checks out magazines on an honors basis, with no record of the issues that its patrons have borrowed.

This is the subscript to her enthusiastic report of having found an easy way to get free magazines.

I don't know; I have a few ethical grievances with the philosophical flippancy of her reasoning.

As far as she's concerned, so long as the vice enjoys impunity the violator remains inculpable. Obviously there exist more dangerous miscreants than her, but she strikes with an infuriating impenitence.
