Not as a brook, but as a person:
"She burbled, merrily."
Say it six times. Burbled. Weird word but it's fun to say.

Actually, drop the comma.
"I love the Doge!" she burbled merrily.
Well, I guess you could still use the comma but is it as effective?
This is how I spend my days. Pondering a comma placement.
I need a new job.

I said "burbled" six times in a row and a Leprechaun appeared.
He did not grant me a wish or show me where is pot of gold was, either. In fact, he was mean, and left out the front door with a bottle of cologne he took from my dresser.
Leslie, I expect you to pay for that.
