my tumblr here Happy Thanksgiving, my dear friends and followers.
Although the story of Thanksgiving is a muddled one (to say the least) it is because of this that I think it is important to take note of our nation’s violent past and let it help us grow as people in solidarity. This is why we all need to acknowledge what we do have in our lives and share this with each other.
These are the things that come to mind today:
My family and all of their support, lessons, and love they have always provided. Being able to Skype with them all the way in Mexico is such a savior. What an amazing invention. I’m so thankful I will be able to go travel to visit them in December.
I’m so emotional and grateful for my little Chicago friend-family. I don’t know where I’d be without them. We have made some lovely traditions for ourselves and I truely feel they understand and accept me for who I am. You are what has made this place a home for me.
My friends in Nevada, New Mexico, California, and all across the country (and world!) I’m so happy to still have you all in my life, that we’ve kept in touch. No one understands me as much as you guys do, my old dear friends. I hold my memories so closely and miss you all so much.
My job at the Y! It has taught me so much. I love working with the kids there, they teach me something new everyday. My co-workers there have showed me that co-workers don’t have to be terrible and I count them as my good friends. I’m glad we have such a camaraderie.
My school and education - that ability to try to live out of my dream, despite all my obstacles, debt, and frustration.
All the new experiences that I have had and will have.
The ability to cook and create art, which is sometimes all that feels right.
My little apartment and living on my own, which is enabling me to learn so much about myself and who I am alone.
All animals and pets that always cheer me up!
The plants that are on my windowsills that are thriving and bright.
My new phone (the ability to get one!) which is awesomeee and brings such better connectivity to all of my loved ones.
Love. Oh you…so much of you.
Living. Oh yeah, and that!
Thank you, friends, for everything. I love you all.
