Flashbacks
For a brief moment about 10 minutes ago, I was 10 years old again, sitting at my desk at home, feeling the world shake around me.
5.8 5.4 isn't nearly as big as 7.1, but the '89 quake shook for 15 sec. This one was well over a minute.
I was apparently the only person in my office to dive under a desk. But then, my instincts were forged 19 years ago, and they just took over. And I have an 8-foot high mountain of books and binders behind me that I didn't really want to have come down on my head. None did, but if I had waited until the quake got big enough to do so, I wouldn't have been able to dodge them.
So... shaken, a little stirred, and really ready for lunch now.
