I drove all over creation this weekend, and exhausted myself in the process.
Wednesday was the sort-of-bi-weekly B5 game over at
bigevil's place with
tommyomega and
cburgess. Good times.
Thursday was a meeting with several people about mapping out the territories for the new AOKP court. For those of you readers who have no idea what that means, don't worry about it.
Friday I went back over to
cburgess and
eowyn42's place to help them pack up all their worldly belongings.
Saturday I first drove out to Chino Hills to pick up
teacherriki from her brother's place, and then it was off to Escondido for Anthony and Pearl's engagement party. Along with many jokes repeatedly passed around about how many Andronicans are getting married in the next 12-16 months, the official dates were revealed both for Anthony & Pearl's wedding (August 14) and Carlos & Brooke's (July 11).
We left there and headed back up to Anaheim Hills for the
7k concert. The opening act was an all-girl punk-esque band called "Apocalipstick." The girls had some cute quirks (their stage names take their real first names and add on make-up terms - the lead singer is "Abby Lipstick," the bassist is "Brenda Mascara," the guitarist is "Jenna Blush," and the drummer is "Jeannette Gloss"), some rockin' sound, and a really gorgeous lead singer/rhythm guitarist. They did, from what I could tell, three original songs and two covers, and their originals were a LOT better than their covers - though that was mostly due to their choice of covers. It's not that they covered the songs badly, but rather that they chose to cover bad songs.
teacherriki's brother, it turns out, is their guitar teacher, hence how they came to perform at the Spark Lounge. 7k put on a good set afterwards. The "power-trio" thing seems to really be working for them. We left there about 12:30 about ready to pass out, and I was fortunate enough to be able to stay sufficiently awake and alert to drive us back to Long Beach.
Sunday it was BACK out to Chino Hills to go to lunch (what was originally supposed to be brunch) with
teacherriki's family for her father's birthday. So yeah, I met "the fam."
