50 Books/50 Movies in 2008

I've read more books than I've seen films this week. I'm already doing much better than last year (I didn't read a single book until March last year!)

Books

3/ 50 books. 6% done!

2. I Am Legend - Richard Matheson.
I've been sucking at getting to the cinema but most of the films I've wanted to see are books too, yay for mail order and libraries! I enjoyed this book but Hello! Where were the zombies!? I've wanted to read this for a while because it's always on "best zombie book" lists but... it's not a zombie book. It's vampires and, yes most of them are not your typical intelligent, sadistic vampires but they're still not zombies dammit. Anyway it's a great read (despite the lack of zombies) it has a very desperate feel to it in that post-apocalyptic way. Definitely not your average vampire (or zombie!) book.

3. Stardust - Neil Gaiman.
JP actually bought me this for my birthday today but I got it last night and read it in one go (it's very short). It's a good book, not quite what I was expecting. I've read a few of Gaiman's graphic novels... it was not like those. I mean it had the same kind of quirkiness but it's a much gentler story. IDK. It was just kind of ok, I didn't think it was great or anything.

Movies

5/ 50 movies. 10% done!

5. D-War. OMG! This is just... The worst film! OMG. I cannot convey in words just how bad this film is!! I had read the reviews and heard it was like, the worst film ever and all that. But. Being the moron rebel that I am I thought to myself "surely it can't be that bad". I WAS WRONG!. So very wrong. Ok the plot from what I could understand (which wasn't a lot because I was perpetually confused) is that there are these giant serpent things, that possibly live in the sea... IDK anyway once every whatever years a girl is born who contains some thingamebob that lets the snake-thing become a celestial dragon. Or something. Now there are two of these snake-things one is good and one is bad. Well anyway however many years ago the two guardians of the good snake-thing are raising the girl with the watchamacallit (it comes to power on the girl's 20th birthday or some shit) well the young guardian bloke falls in love with girl and because giving this thingy to the snake-thing will kill the girl they decide to run away together and they die. Whatever. But back in our time... (Oh God it's so lame). Back in our time the young guardian has been reincarnated as that guy from Roswell, the girl has been reincarnated as some girl and the old guardian has been reincarnated as some freaky shape-shifting antique-collector guy and basically it's the same story all over again, only in America this time. BUT! will they make the same mistake again!?! You'll have to watch it to find out. No I'm kidding, don't watch this film. It lasts less than 2 hours but it feels like 2 years. IT WILL DESTROY YOUR SOUL! (Seriously)
