Please excuse braindead-ed ness! I had this all typed up and then Firefox crashed for the first time in aaages. So, guess who's doing their Manifest write-up 2 1/2 weeks late?
2009's Manifest was awesome. Really awesome. And I could totally just leave it at that, but I won't XD Stayed with Kate, Boo, Jess, Tess and the rest of the Tasmanian love crew this year - thanks for having me! It was really awesome living with my own little Family for the week <3 Arrived at the hostel on Thursday afternoon with a car-load of cosplay crap (I'm so SO glad our room was sizeable ;^;) and got some tidbits with Kate (super special suck-in stockings, "fashion" tape and glitter - all cosplay essentials) before quickly seeing people and returning to get ready for Amaranth. Super love to Jess for helping me get ready in time!
Me: Okay Kate, crushing cosplay corset time!
Kate: Uuuuh....................*tugtug*?
Me: ............................................................when's Jess getting back? ;^;
Jess: *walks in*
Me: THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE!
I've always meant to go to Amaranth the last two-ish years, but it's never really happened - until I got totally bullied by the committee to go this year. And I'm glad I did! It was a really great night and I had such a fun time. The venue was amazing, the company was fantastic and the music pretty lol-fucking-tastic.
Sefie and me my super padded, enhanced and faked boobs - why didn't we get any nice pictures together?! ;_;
Somewhere in the gaiety of the night I got zomgwtf nominated for Queen of Amaranth and had to give a mini-interview on the stage:
Brad: Which do you like out of Naruto and Bleach and why?
Me: .................................................NEITHER DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD8
Wtf-ed a bit more when I won (Thaaaank-you guys! ;0;)
Andrew as Seseshessoumaru was my King of fluffy win. Yeah...our faux-fail waltzing skills are great XD;
And much loves and shout outs to Millie for lolz, warnings of creepy-stare-y-stalker-guy, and looking after+loosening my corset when I began getting sick from too much food + corset + heat + dancing. Unfortunately I had to leave early because of that, but it was so much love to just be able to catch a tram into the city instead of also having to train back home...oh! And also coming back to Manifest family <333
I think the joke of the day is that earlier I couldn't be the Princess/Queen of something, and I made a pretty crappy drag queen when I put too much glitter on for Madam, and then I came home with Queen of Amaranth! Fuck yeah!
Also! These things were chocolate! *floored* I totally thought they were badges and it was so nice to get home and be all *om nom sustienence nom*
Friday was a busy day. I had school in the morning (learning pattermaking is important, yosh!) so had to organise all of my costume/makeup/prop/stuff before then to bring along after jet-taxi-ing straight from school to the show grounds. Soooomehow managed to get changed/makeup-ed/contact-ed and everything in 20-ish minutes with a bit of time to spare before hosting the cosplay panel with Sefie and Annie.
Smexalicious panelling! Sefie as whitemage!Yuna, Annie as butler!Grell and me as eyepatchless!Chrome (story is that the eyepatch part of the eyepatch (with the resin cast skull >O) fell of somewhere in transit *sad face*. It was nice to be able to see for the day/panel anyway XD)
Our panel featured molestations, mushroom growing, Siera!pole grinding, squeezing heads into too-small 20 second wig caps and the birth of the "PROTIP! IRON YOUR COSTUME" meme. For our first cosplay panel, I think it went pretty well. I'm sure we covered all of our bases while keeping everything fun and accessable, also, all of our documents from the panel are over
here.
After panel-ing it was a change into ghetto-character-CD-cover!Chrome. Uuuh...plus random Sora~
Friday is also FRUiTS fashion day and our first time seeing the main events hall...homgmdsfg, I think all our jaws dropped as soon as we walked in. A raised stage, two giant projector screens, and enough chairs to make creating a chair!eiffel tower a definite possibility.
JessxSefie? Contestents coming onto the MC? NOW it's Manifest.
The day pretty much ended after the FRUiTs contest and it was home for chillaxing and mother-saving-cosplay time before heading out for a traditional post-con-day dinner of Korean BBQ!
I think my Manifest was the year of changing costumes XD Started out wearing Maya for a photoshoot with Neil before changing into Chrome for epic Reborn group of EXTREME love, win and awesome....or I was until half-way to the Showgrounds I realised that despite having bought Chrome's wig, accesories and trident along, I'd left all of actual outfit back at the hostel. OTL. Luckily a seperate group had to go back to the hostel to pick up a forgotten prop and could pick up Chrome for me - so so much love! ;~; What's with me and forgetting important bits of costumes at Manifest?
All of the morning was spent fluffing, whoring and socializing about because I couldn't fit anywhere inside - what could be more fun?
Ginger(bread) with Ginger (the Ginseng plush). IT HADTO BE DONE.
Cha-ching! I'd really hoped to go into the supermarket like this to get money out...but it wasn't open. So walking along the main road to the ATM had to do.
My dad's already said that my butt looks big in this costume ;____;
YAY NEIL SHOOT. *feels pretty and witty and gaay~*
AND THEN. Oh GOD. Changing in corners of trader's and bathrooms and doing make-up for Chrome OTL. Annie said I took a surprisingly short ammount of time, but it certainly felt like forever. Maybe I was just apprehensive about meeting our epic Reporn love group of win? Also epic thank-yous to Yumi for being my cloak room ;000; <3
Seriously, so much love that I can't even express going to K and Aly for somehow bringing together such amazingly awesome people from Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra/Perth and Melbourne for this awesome awesome AWESOME group. Everyone was so lovely and wonderful and it was amazing to meet you all and you're all so lovely and SUIT CHARACTERS SO. DAMN. WELL. Ugh, so much love <333
Vongola biatches!
966996?! Somehow only shot with Mukuro-sama~ <3
What happens to Sho-chan when he falls asleep before we go on stage.
Saddest moment ever because...our skit was all over =( It's on the YouTubez
here and I can honestly say that I've never had such a blastastically awesome time on stage. Ever. So amazing! Much much love and shout outs to Minh, Harmony, Sefie, Chisa, Will, Aly, K, Silver, Ravi, Bubble and Ray. It was wonderful to meet/catch up/fluff about with you all. *exploding from awesome* Oh! And we also won Best Skit! EPIC WIN!
The day pretty much ended after the competition and I finally got to properly see my Mum and Dad! They'd arrived in the afternoon (Dad came straight from the airport ;0;) and really enjoyed the competition and looking about and everything which I'm so glad to hear. Cosplay parents ftw <3
I had to leave Saturday night for a dance competition on Sunday and my cold that I'd been holding off for a week finally got me as well. But like hell that was going to stop me from Karaoke + afterparty celebrations Sunday night. Drugged up Siera was...on about 6 different medications XD; But so worth it, I love con-socializing too much ._.;
Soundtrack for the week-end:
This con's gonna be a good con - Black Eyed Peas
I'M AT A CON - The Lonely Island
Under The Sea (Subarashi!) - The Little Mermaid
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Any/all boy band songs
All in all. Manifest was awesome. I think the move to the showgrounds has really benefitted it and I'm looking forward to it growing and expanding and getting better than before in the years to come.
Hourray! That's finally done. Now I can type up Main Animania report...sometime XD Also, yay for photo fluffing tomorrow and catching up with epic fail back log of e-mails and f-list entries n_n;
