I've read a few interesting articles recently. And I thought I'd share. Maybe you'd find them interesting too :)
1.
Why it is good to sleep late. We don't have to feel guilty anymore :P
2.
How the world has changed in the last decade. 3.
People get happier as they get older - this is such an interesting read! One evening I even spent an hour on the phone summarising it to my mother.
When people start out on adult life, they are, on average, pretty cheerful. Things go downhill from youth to middle age until they reach a nadir commonly known as the mid-life crisis. So far, so familiar. The surprising part happens after that. Although as people move towards old age they lose things they treasure-vitality, mental sharpness and looks-they also gain what people spend their lives pursuing: happiness.
4.
Which languages should we learn? - this one may be interesting only to me since I study languages, but it's still interesting to see how an education changes.
Out of the 6000 languages in the world, why is it so vital for smart people to learn the one spoken in one small European country of ever-waning influence and its former colonies?
5.
Generation Why? - The Social Network movie made quite an impression on me. Facebook with all its faults, became an important tool of communication, especially for my generation. 2.0 generation.
Watching this movie, even though you know Sorkin wants your disapproval, you can’t help feel a little swell of pride in this 2.0 generation. They’ve spent a decade being berated for not making the right sorts of paintings or novels or music or politics. Turns out the brightest 2.0 kids have been doing something else extraordinary. They’ve been making a world.
I'm crap at explaining why I liked this article. It's long but very insightful. Also, containing spoilers for the movie, so if you are planning on watching The Social Network and don't want to learn the plot, better wait with reading it.
