Summary:
His grandparents travel often, but for the first time, the house feels too hollow. He no longer has fainting spells and he remembers calling his relatives to assure them of his health, but walking along the tatami he cannot recall their faces. A porcelain fox under a pearl sits on his living room table. He does not remember buying it. To comfort himself, Yukito traces over the Chinese inscription on the paperweight. At “yue” he hears bickering outside his door.
The pale trinket is discarded with echoing clinks and Yukito greets Sakura and Touya, both golden in the morning sunshine.
