She watched the sun rise, and for one blessed moment she was there.
Warm arms wrap around her as her body unconsciously relaxes, and her eyes close as Xiao Lang's scent surrounds her. There is no worry; she does not fear the night because only he keeps the dreams away.
"Mei Ling." Her eyes snapped open and she was back: Hong Kong. With a wistful gaze to the east, she resigned herself to the sun's westward path. Night would always come with its gift of nightmare.
She could do nothing.
