After all the kerfuffle about Obama's former church and pastor, I wonder if there will be any, I said any, mainstream press exposure of Palin's church, which is explicitly dominionist and affiliated with "Joel's Army" (that I just learned about through the right reverend P.Z. Myers).
Probably there will be nothing. She will never be called upon to explain why she is affiliated with the Christian Taliban, she will never be asked if she agrees that democracy must be abandoned in favor of an absolutist government founded on the Old Testament, and so on.
She's white, pretty, and might cry, and she's a Republican, so they'll leave her alone. Plus, (white) dominionism is simply one arm of mainstream Christianity these days. Plus, questioning someone's faith is simply not done - unless you are a black person seeking high office.
But I gotta tell ya - the term "Joel's Army" makes me think of MST3K's first prisoner on the SoL. Imagine, if you will, an army of red jump-suited slackers, inventing things like the comic-strip mixer and eating waffles. In a sane world, this would be the horrifying reality we'd be facing.
