[filtered from drones and the usual Big BadsWell, Mayfield. I'm sure we're all still rather mournful about the recent mental departure of Madame Major General from our ranks. Such a pillar of the community, mm ( Read more... )

I've put little stock in that 'military' of theirs. With such a ragtag group, all we can do is pool our skills and our resources together in order to fight back as best we are able when the time comes.

The fact that one leader alone held all the secrets is proof enough of the flaw in their system. But the information has been dispersed, and that is the crux of it at the moment. But what about further information? Is it to be hoarded and then not released by those who believe themselves to be in power and then left behind should they be released from this prison?

You sound like a very shrewd man. I should like to speak with you at greater length and in greater detail if you're not averse to the idea...?

To lead the people is only to follow the mob. But I suppose that's rather too philosophical for a practical moment like this one.

I'm never averse to speaking candidly with thoughtful individuals.

And what, pray tell, is wrong with philosophy?

Very little. Some people simply find it a more obscure medium to deal in when seeking practicable solutions for pressing situations.

Mm, but it's the basis for figuring out quite a bit more about the world and the people in it. Sometimes such answers can be interpreted by a practical and educated mind to come up with a solution that's far better than could have been dreamed by the one who does no introspection and puts no thought into the basic nature of humanity.

It's a difficult world in which to gauge such things, but I'm sure a capable meritocracy would not be outside the scope of what we can accomplish.

Mm, indeed. It's already what's underway in different areas of this town. Those that believe one is the be-all end-all plan are fools, and those who think we who are not participating in the militia are not helping are... Well, precisely that.

Fools, the pitiful lot of them.

Come, now. Everyone has their uses.

Well yes, but fools can only be given fools' work. Someone needs to do it, but it doesn't negate their idiocy.

There will be plenty of fools' work to be done in this effort, don't you think?

Yes, though even for fools' work, I prefer to assign -trustworthy- fools. Unless they can be manipulated, which as yet I don't have the pull for.

Perhaps those who aren't fools need to pool their human resources.

Indeed. I'm sure the opportunity will present.

One can only hope those who aren't fools have their hands free long enough to notice. It can be such a hassle keeping them from tripping over their own two feet sometimes.

...I wonder... [Starting to get uncomfortable, actually.]

Do we sound similar?
