Character Age: 17
Background: Here is the link to the main series, but I'll be taking her specifically from the alternate universe side-manga, Mirai Nikki: Paradox. Also, I'm going to go ahead and give a huge trigger warning for part of the following history.

In this version, the world's setup and rules are all the same originally. However, unlike the main story, Yukiteru was fatally wounded by the Third in their encounter. To preserve the Balance of Cause and Effect, detective Akise Aru was asked to temporarily take Yukiteru's place as he was healed, with strict orders not to do anything that would change the events that would normally play out. Initially he did as he was told, with some... minor differences. But that was okay, because he was still going along with the major events that had occured!

... That is, until he visited the Omekata cult's temple. This is where he meets Tsubaki. Prior to this meeting, Tsubaki... didn't really have a good life. She grew up as a figurehead in the Omekata religion (yes this change of phrase is important), with her parents being the head of said religion. Things were actually pretty good until the second in command, Funatsu, got wind of the Kasuganos' plans to close down the temple. Not wanting to give up his position of power over the one thousand followers, he secretly drugged Tsubaki's parents, and while out on a drive their car eventually drove off a cliff, killing them both.

Funatsu quickly warped the Omekata into a twisted cult, one that still worshipped Tsubaki as their figurehead, but in a much more sinister way. She was made into a sex slave, and was gang-raped on a daily basis by the men of the cult. This continued for years; the only thing Tsubaki was able to cling to was a small ball given to her by her mother before she died. One single thread was all that standed between her and complete insanity.

So yeah, Tsubaki had a pretty horrible past! In the main storyline, she loses her treasured keepsake, goes completely off the deep end, and begins to wish and hope for world destruction. In the alternate timeline she still has said ball, so has not yet been dedicated to this when she receives her Future Diary and meets Akise a few weeks later. Remember the whole "Akise only played along up until this point" thing? Yeah. He was tired of merely following a plan, and decided to take fate into his own hands. With the aid of Ai Mikami (one half of the pair that makes up the 7th), and one of the 8th's followers, he was able to sneak Tsubaki out of the temple (along with Reisuke the 5th) and to a secluded area overlooking the city. It was there she revealed her suspicions over Funatsu's role in her parent's deaths, and that she was reluctant to leave the cult because of her desire for revenge.

Upon return to the temple with a plan to make Funatsu confess, Akise and Tsubaki are captured by the Omekata followers, who are under the hypnotic powers of another diary holder, the 12th. Reisuke provides a vital distraction, turning the justice-and-helpful-oriented 12th's attention away from his hypnosis (because who can turn their back on a child in need of help!). Funatsu, thinking the other followers are still under the effects of the hypnosis, gloats about how he was the one that killed the founders, and is subsequently beaten down by the angry followers. Now the true head of the religion, Tsubaki plans to restore it to it's previous, more helpful state.

Tsubaki (and the others) shows up once more in the finale, providing a distraction for Akise as he escapes. It's unknown what happens to her after that.

Personality: Upon first meeting Tsubaki, one might think she’s a girl that needs protecting. Because of her weak eyesight, she would pass the time recording the stories of her followers and people who visited the temple, until her diary, like several others, began to predict the future. She seems to be fairly trusting, revealing almost immediately to Kurusu and Akise that she is the holder of one of these “future diaries”, and asks them for their help in turning over the Dead End hers has predicted.

Tsubaki claims that she has no interest in becoming god, which is the goal of the “game” that all the future diary holders are a part of, since she is a priestess and thus is dedicated to serving god. She is aware of the limitations of her diary, which is why she asked for Yukki’s aid in preventing her death. She also seems like a capable and stern leader, able to snap many of her followers out of a state of hypnosis caused by another diary holder with one shout. All in all, despite her disabilities, both physically and power-wise, Tsubaki seems to be one of the sanest of the twelve.

… This is mostly just an act, of course. The real Tsubaki is quite cruel. Deception comes as a second nature to her, and she is not afraid to use other people to protect herself or further her own goals. She trusts nobody, especially not men. Due to her horrific past, she is - justifiably - extremely mistrustful of men. When Akise helped her escape the temple, she immediately assumes he's merely after her body and is taking advantage of her poor sight to drag her off and... yeah.

Revenge is a huge driving force for Tsubaki. She puts up with being locked away, being raped on a daily basis, all so that she can one day avenge the deaths of her parents. A part of her is even scared to leave the temple, because while it's an extremely unhealthy environment for her, there is absolutely nowhere else in the world she can turn to. This doesn't help at all with the hatred for the world already bubbling inside her due to her abuse, and just like the Tsubaki of the main timeline, her sanity hangs on by a mere thread.

The difference between the Tsubaki of the main timeline and the Tsubaki of the alternate timeline is that this one doesn't goe insane. She still harbors an immense hatred towards the world, she still has a great desire for revenge... but thanks to the kindness Akise showed her, and his help in helping her expose Funatsu's crimes against her parents, her view begins to change, and she no longer wishes for world destruction. She begins truly acting like the deceptive mask she once wore, taking steps to turn the cult into the peaceful religion it once was, and even takes a step forward in recovering from her trauma by kissing Akise - though she does insult him after she does so. She's not all Yamato Nadeshiko, after all. She's very blunt in her opinions of others, and will speak her mind, even if it comes off as rude.

Abilities: It's not an ability exactly, but Tsubaki has had very poor eyesight since birth. This isn't helped by the fact that she's cooped up inside all day every day. But because she lacks decent eyesight, her other senses are likely above normal to help her adapt.

On a more supernatural note, Tsubaki is in possession of a Future Diary: exactly what it says on the tin! It's a large scroll that she can use to predict the future in some manner. This scroll predicts the actions and futures of the one thousand people that follow her; since she once used this scroll to record the names and stories of her followers before it became a Future Diary, it can be assumed that anyone whose name is written in the scroll can have their future seen by her. The downside to this diary is that she can't predict what happens to her; if the Dead End flag is raised, she has no way of knowing what will trigger it.

Sample Entry: Here is a post from when I played her previously.
