HIV in Bombay in 1991
Today I gave my report on global prostitution in English class. Here's something I found:
In 1991, Robert Freidman created a statistic about the rate of infection: there are approximately 100,000 prostitutes in Bombay who sleep with an average of 600,000 men a day. Thirty-percent of these women have HIV and the chance of them transmitting the disease is .1%. So, 200 people are infected with HIV each day and 6,000 each month (Chirgwin).
