I feel so grateful

Nov 17, 2003 08:16

to be able to do what I do for a living. I mean I get in these moods where I see everything that is wrong with my life and I'm wondering why am I not here or there. And I was talking with some friend who sings in a ska band and they can't make enough to survive, they don't get paid hardly at all for a gig. So they have to work a second job. I work a second job reading commercials, but it's not like a regular nine to five job where you slog it out. So I'm thinking, gee, I really am lucky to be able to get paid for what I do. And I really don't need to commercial work for survival. So I shouldn't be complaining to myself so much.

Then, I was thinking the other day as I was listening to Holly Valance's new song State of Mind as it is rocking up the charts in merry old London town, there seems to be three centers of influence in the world today. One is in California. I think that is the largest cultural influence: movies and music. Then, there is New York. And third is Europe, which is really comprised of London, Paris and to a lesser extent Berlin, and then lastly, I would say there is the Mediterranean influence, which would be Israel, Italy and Greece. But the greatest music and film is really out of California even though I love the dance music of London (even with those dreadful Cheeky Girls although I would say a group like the Atomic Kittens make up for them) and Paris. I know I always say Prague this Prague that, but you must know by now how much I love California even if it has the terminator for a governor. And beginning this coming year, it will have more rights for gay people than many other states in the US. And while Prague is a very beautiful and lovely and divinely romantic city, it’s music is well, somewhat dated in that quaint European way... But I’m still getting married to Kara there.

Hugs and kisses.

If You Come To Me

So long ago
I didn't have a care about me
I didn't know where life come from
But now I know
That you left your love around me
You know it makes me feel so strong

Baby if you turn around
And prove to me it's real
Maybe we can work it out
'Cos this is how I feel

Do you know where you go when you give it all away
I'll be there for you, care for you
Love you everyday, oh baby
And do you feel the same for me?
Any day, any way
When I feel a little low
I would cry for you, die for you
Just to let you know, oh baby
And if you come to me you know I'll make it right

Through all my life
I never thought I'd want somebody
Someone to call my own
And now I've found
A little bit of heaven baby
A place to call my own

Baby if you turn around
And prove to me it's real
Maybe we can work it out
'Cos this is how I feel

Do you know where you go when you give it all away
I'll be there for you, care for you
Love you everyday, oh baby
And do you feel the same for me?
Any day, any way
When I feel a little low
I would cry for you, die for you
Just to let you know, oh baby
And if you come to me you know I'll make it right

Hey babe, don't you know?
You gotta, slow down, before you know
You're gonna, break down and turn around
Before you know, you go and break my heart
When will you learn to be, a little, careful
When you think of me
A little, careful, when you're close to me
'Cos baby, I loved you from the start

Baby if you turn around
And prove to me it's real
Maybe we can work it out
' Cos this is how I feel

Do you know where you go when you give it all away
I'll be there for you, care for you
Love you everyday, oh baby
And do you feel the same for me?
Any day, any way
When I feel a little low
I would cry for you, die for you
Just to let you know, oh baby
And if you come to me you know I'll make it right
