I basically spent all of Sunday traveling home. I finished reading A Tale of Two Cities, and read about a hundred pages from my book, Guns, Germs, and Steel:the fates of human societies.
Last night, we carved pumpkins in the courtyard. My roommate Allie carved a John Kerry pumpkin. Susie carved one with a big goonie face, like Jack Pumpkin Head from the Oz Books. I carved my pumpkin in a curving, curling design of licking flames and abstract symbolism. It was titled, "Bush, you're fired." Kaja ended up winning the contest with a sexy witch silhouette, but Yelena won the contest in my mind. At first glance her design looked like a lobster monster, but on closer inspection I saw that she had carved a beautiful act of lesbian love making. I can't wait until Monday when we light candles inside our jack-o-lanterns.
