My latest project
After visiting John's brother in Houston, we decided to convert our guest room into a play room. That's what they had done, and we LOVED it. There weren't any toys anywhere else in their house, just upstairs in the play room. Our house had become overrun with toys...like a Toys R Us tornado had swept through here. Our guest room gets used maybe 10 nights a year, so we figured why waste perfectly good space on something that gets used 10/365th of the year when we could have a play room that got used every day AND eliminated toy clutter from around the house. We gave our mattress set to some friends and used part of our tax return to buy a sleeper sofa and paint.
we got our refund on Friday, went to Ikea on Saturday and bought the sofa we'd already picked out. I taped the walls on Saturday and painted during nap time on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I LOVED the color...a light, buttery yellow. The couch is navy blue. The couch was supposed to be delivered yesterday between 3:00 and 7:00, but they called around 8:30 saying they'd be in this area, could they bring it in the morning instead. So they did! That worked out great because then yesterday during nap time I got everything moved in there. The only disappointment was that our play group was here yesterday, but the toys hadn't all been moved in there yet. I definitely hit a wall while moving stuff in there. Kind of like when you're packing to move and you get so tired of it you start throwing stuff in boxes and marking them "random" because you want it done but you're so sick of packing. Yeah...try moving thousands of dollars of toys!
I had the foresight to take before and after pictures, although I thought I had a picture of what the guest room used to look like when it was a bedroom, but I can't find it. Keep in mind a gaggle of two year olds had been at my house for three hours before I took these pictures. My house doesn't normally look that chaotic.
