Midwifery for the 21st Century

AIMS, the Association for Improvement in Midwifery are running a One Woman, One Midwife campaign that seeks to convince the government and NHS to provide each mother to be with her own midwife to be paid for by the NHS. New Zealand implemented this model some time ago wit some success.

If you have the time I urge you to visit their web site at
http://www.aims.org.uk/

and read their article on Midwifery for the 21st Century.

If you have any connection whatsoever to someone who is likely to be giving birth then you should have a look.

It says a lot about the Association of Independent Midwives that they support this campaign and want all women to be able to access their standard of care, not just those who can afford it. (They already do all they can to be affordable by offering the most flexible payment plans I have ever seen, basically pay over as long a period as you need.") This is not a group of ladies dedicated to private practice to make money but because they believe in what they do.
