Every year, the food bank runs Trick or Eat - an event where volunteers from across campus go "trick or treating" for non-perishable food donations in communities surrounding the University. This was my first year participating...which made it EXTRA fun seeing as Madeline & I were responsible for planning every last detail of the whole thing, hah. Maybe it might've helped just a little if I'd actually GONE in past years? Ahh well, it was an unreal experience all the same!

Everyone waiting for registration to start. We had about 100 people show up to volunteer
which is amazing!

Patrick (dressed as Wonder Woman) trying to lasso me (dressed as a gypsy.)

David's mask was intensely frightening and I refused to look at
him all night. If we absolutely HAD to talk, I'd stare at my feet...seriously.
Madeline was dressed as Audrey Hepburn! And this is us trying to figure out
how to work the "Smart Classroom" - what a joke.

At the loading dock of the Student's Union Building - where the car loads upon
car loads of food were being dropped off. Luckily, Madeline was responsible
for all of this - as it had to do with reading maps and co-ordinating volunteers
in different parts of the city. My map reading skills are somewhere around zero.

What I lack in map reading skills, I make up for in organizational skills.
Basically, I was responsible for orchestrating the "Sorting Process" (about 15
volunteers weigh and categorize everything coming in.)

Everyone who was sorting food, with our last basket of the night to be sorted!

The results.

Celebrating the fact that it was over! Madeline et moi - trying to be
cheerleaders despite the Audrey Hepburn/gypsy outfits.

David (sans mask, the treasurer of our Board of Directors), Madeline
(Executive Director), Justin(the chair of our Board), and me. We
finished sorting all of the food WAY earlier than we were expecting to,
so we hung out in the office and ate candy for far too long.

The event, which is our biggest food drive of the year, ran from 5:30PM - 9PM and we raised 8343 pounds of food (equivalent to $16,686 worth of food.) Looking at everything that came in, all from people who believe in giving back and helping those in need, honestly makes me feel unreal. Elated, even - hah. Seriously, though. It's pretty cool.
