Who: Venom, Ky, Jam What: Trevor decides to invite his new friends over to his house for some cooking lessons courtesy of Jam. When: After school Where: Venom's house FINISHED! ( But I burn toast! )
"Yes, yes we did. We were placed in the same building, our dorms only down the hall from each other. I was 11 when we first met, and for two years, we were the best of friends. He was known as Fredrick Grant then, though."
"Frederick Grant, aru ne..? What was he like back then aru ka?" Jam asks with interest, turning to listen attentively to Ky, with a glance every so often to make sure Venom's cooking was going alright. "Wasn't he a science wiz like his dad aru ka?"
"He was?" Now Trevor was getting interested. He didn't know much about Ky and Sol's friendship, but then again he hadn't told them much about his background, either. "Sol doesn't seem the type to come from such a family. But the name Grant does sound familiar."
"Yes, something like that...Fredrick had inherited his father's love of science. While his father was busy plowing the way for genetic based pharmaceuticals, Fredrick was at school, with me, winning science fairs and obtaining various grants and scholarships to help foster his brilliant mind..."
Jam sighed... how sad. Something awful must have happened, then, to make him change that way. She felt bad for Sol, and for Ky- it must have been such a shock to see the new Sol, so different...
"So he was a genius, aru ne? What was his personality like back then aru ka? Humm.. And what could have happened aru ka...?" She frowns.
"Perhaps Sol was burned out and didn't want to be part of science anymore..." Trevor found a strainer and placed it in the sink. "I think the noodles are ready, Miss Jam."
"Perhaps...he refers to Fredrick as weak and worthless...he prefers his new self, and...I'm fine with that now," Ky said with a heavy sigh, not wanting to divulge much more. Besides, he couldn't speak for Sol.
Jam rested a hand comfortingly on Ky's shoulder, before walking over to check the noodles. "Perfect aru! Okay, and now to check the meatballs aru.." she says, opening the stove a crack to look in. "They should be ready soon aru. Now, we need 3 dishes.. assuming we all want a taste, aru ne?" She asks the two boys. "I can sure say I'm rather in the mood for a nice meal aru!"
Trevor got up and began to set the table with plates and silverware. "I still can't believe I helped make something and didn't destroy the kitchen in the process." He arranged everything in perfect order.
"When I took a home ec. course back in London I was forever known as the boy who killed the toaster. We were learning to make breakfast, and I... I set the toaster too high because I wanted it fast. It burned the toast and ruined the toaster."
"That can easily be summed up as a problem a lot of youth have these days. They are all in such a rush to obtain that which they want. I have found that patience is a great virtue, taught in the Bible, no less." Ky said with a soft smile, placing an assuring hand on Venom's shoulder.
Jam smiled, proud of Venom's accomplishment. "Ahh.. well someday you can go back and show them what you've learned aru!" She nods. Soon the buzzer went off for the meatballs, which she fished out of the oven, laying the pan on the stovetop. "All done aru~! Now to put everything together- could one of you boys hand me that jar of sauce please aru ka?" She looks back, a hand outstretched to accept the jar.
Trevor blushed a bit when Ky touched him. He thought Ky was gorgeous, but he respected him and Jam too much to interfere. "Thanks, Ky. I'm not that impatient anymore. I definitely learned my lesson."
He then handed Jam the jar of sauce. "Yes, I can't wait to see how this turns out!"
With smart and innate food-prep skills like those of a seasoned pro, Jam scooped generous portions of the pasta onto each of the three plates, each followed by a good amount of sauce and a few meatballs atop. Bringing the two plates to the table for the boys, she took the third as her own and joined them, plucking up a fork from the table.
Trevor was the first to take a bite. It tasted... like meatballs should taste. It was flavorful, tender, and cooked the whole way through. And he helped make this?
Jam beams proudly at her 'student' and takes a delicious bite of the food. "You did very well for someone who claimed that couldn't cook aru!" she complimented between bites. "See, have some confidence in the cookbook and yourself and you can do it aru."

Then it hit Trevor like a brick.
"You mean... Dr. Grant? The geneticist?"
