If anything, Kamina had arrived dressed to kill, vampires at least, sporting the atire of an infamous vampire hunter in gaming history sans the whip and array of weapons of course. This was a high school dance after all.
As he and Orihime entered he couldn't help but be taken aback by all the sparkle that was in the room, they really went nuts with the theme didn't they? That didn't matter to him though, he came to kick the sparkly theme to the curb Belmont style and leave any would be vampires quaking in their boots.
Finding the closest chair, Kamina placed himself on his makeshift pedestal to make his usual introduction. "Alright you damn glittery vampires! Hope ya had yer fill of blood cuz you're about to be taken out by Lord Kamina, vampire slayer!!"
Orihime was more than content to allow Kamina to take his spotlight. After all, he'd been nominated for prom king, and that was pretty darn amazing! She just grinned, following along behind him in her matching Maria costume, hair pulled up high to fall in loose chestnut curls down her back.
For as many people that seemed to dislike the theme, Orihime thought it was kind of neat, herself. The gothic atmosphere was actually rather pretty, with the ribbons, the glitter, the contrasts between dark velvet and white flowers.
She indulged in getting a good long look at the decorations, smiling to herself with her hands casually clasped in front of her. If there were any vampires, she doubted they would leap to take up Kamina on his challenge. He looked pretty tough in his Belmont attire!
Apparently there were no souls bold enough to take Kamina up on his issued challenge as everyone simply stared blankly at the boy's craziness. One would think that the school would have been used to his antics by now but he always managed to come up with something completely off the wall to shock the student body once again...and given his track record that night would not be an excepting.
"Hmph! Guess they know better than to mess with me!" With a nimble leap he dismounted from his chair, landing in an overly flashy pose. He was starting to wish he had a whip or something to use for an added effect but unfortunately they confiscated that at the door. Kill joys.
"Alright Hime! Time ta show these guys just who the hell we are!" He grinned excitedly, thrusting a fist into the air. He hadn't expected to get this into the theme, but then again he was always able to excite things with his own flare for the dramatic.
He did make the costume look good. Orihime was particularly excited about this prom; it was like combining a formal dance and Halloween costumes together in one festive event! It was even better than the masquerade ball, she thought.
When Kamina struck his pose, Orihime applauded cheerfully. "Are we the heck punch drinkers?" she asked hopefully. Someone always seemed to spike the punch, and she wanted to drink some before that happened. Punch was good! A shame that always seemed to get ruined with booze.
Buuuuuuuuut if that was the case, water would do, and then they could dance to their hearts' content.
"Heh, hell punch kinda sounds damn good!" Kamina wasn't sure if Orihime meant the drinks would burn like hell on the way down or that they were just from there, but either way made it worth trying out. Plus he was thirsty.
"To the punch bowl!" he shouted pointing in the general direction of the refreshments table, looking slightly more commanding in his new attire. HE might get used to dressing like this every once in a while.
Orihime certainly wouldn't complain if he did. He looked incredibly striking in such fine clothes. She reasoned that it was probably due to the fact that he hardly ever wore anything that had a collar or needed to be buttoned up. But the effects were nice, and when he'd first strutted out in the costume, brimming with confidence, Orihime's heart beat just a little faster. She wanted nothing more than to share a cordial slow dance with him, just taking in everything he was.
But for now, punch! And when Kamina thrust out a commanding finger towards the table, Orihime ducked right beneath his arm and ran forward, throwing a mischievous smile back over her shoulder. This time he could follow her, long legs flashing as she ran and weaved through the assorted couples. Ho ho ho, she toly got a head start thanks to his dramatic pose
( ... )
Trumped! Kamina was surprised that Orihime managed to take up the charge towards the table before he could, and even flashing a taunt back in his direction. He supposed he should have expected something like this since she had been with him so long.
Though part of him didn't mind having her take the lead for a change, as her skirt(which was much shorter than her usual outfits) gave him a nice view of her legs as she scampered towards the table. Taking his time to reach her wasn't too bad in this situation.
As he took up his drink, finishing it off with one big gulp and a quick toss of the cup into the nearby waste basket he caught wind of her request. "Huh? What's it gonna be?" he pondered as Orihime's eyes lit up.
"It's a surprise!" Orihime gasped, as if he'd just asked her to spoil the ending of an exciting mystery novel. Confidential information! But on the other hand, maybe she could give him a hint. Just a small one! It was doubtful he'd figure out what it was anyway.
She smiled, holding the punch in one hand, the other fixing the ruffled collar of his shirt. "It's something you probably shouldn't have until much later, but I really couldn't resist when I saw that they actually made these. It'll be amazing!" she promised.
"Surprise?" Kamina liked surprises! Especially Orihime surprises, they were always fun and interesting, like the once surprise after she made him an awesome dinner.
Wait a sec...
"Eeh? Ya mean like what we did after dinner? I didn't think you'd be that bold Hime!" He chuckled, patting her on the shoulder opposite of him. Did he seriously think that was what she meant? Knowing Kamina, possibly.
"Eh?" Orihime blinked, smiling that blank smile of hers that served as an expression-filler until she could figure out the real meaning of someone's words.
Give her a minute.
Judging by the red that started to creep over her face, she'd finally figured out just which dinner and just what after-dinner event he was referring to. "W-wait, no! Not that kind of surprise, ah ha ha...!" Why was she so flustered? That had been a beautiful night for her. She wasn't so innocent in that regard anymore, but still...
It felt like something only the two of them should share, and no one else. She didn't even tell her best friend about the details, summing it all up with a happy sigh, and 'It was wonderful, I never felt so close to someone before.'
"It's...something different!" A lot different. But she supposed later...
Kamina was slightly disappointed, that that wasn't the surprise, but at least it narrowed down the list by one...out of infinite possibilities. Regardless he was still curious as to what exactly it was.
"Hmm..." He stopped to ponder what it could be. Maybe it was some kind of new sword set, or something for his bike? No that couldn't be it. "Geeze, wonder what it is..." He scratched his fingers through his blue hair. Figuring out just what it was turned out to be a lot harder than he had originally imagined.
Orihime smiled. A Belmont never looked so perplexed! His expressions was both confused and intrigued, endearing him even further to Orihime. "You'll just have to wait and find out!" she laughed, seizing his hand in both of hers as she began backpedaling toward the dancefloor. "Let's dance a little before they pick the court, ha ha!"
It would be weird seeing him dance with another girl if he were crowned king, but...for some reason, Orihime wasn't feeling all that jealous about the idea. She'd thought she would. Kamina had a knack, however, of making her feel like she was truly something special. Insecurity had no place in her heart anymore, replaced with the knowledge that he loved her and wanted no one else to share his life like that.
And wouldn't it be a hoot if he was crowned king two years in a row!
