Trowa had a way to him, of being invisible.

It wasn't magic, of course, or anything remotely of the sort: it was just a habit from all those long years where it was really better not to be noticed. He sat outside his house, on the front steps, knapsack next to him. The key was tucking yourself into the sides of the scene - he sat at the very edge of the stairs, tucked into himself, and he didn't look at anybody. And so, nobody looked at him. Look dead enough to be boring, alive enough to not seem in trouble.

His gun was a familiar hard weight against his side. He had taken care to gel his hair firmly into place, so it wouldn't be a distraction. He wore thin gloves with gripping rubber pads on the palm and fingertips.

He was ready, and he waited.

"Right. Destroyed." Duo's lips tightened as Heero responded. Half to himself, he began muttering. "Right, am I the only one bothered by the destruction of a medical vehicle as a casualty of this mission?" The brim of his hat stayed low enough to mask his face to other drivers, looking like he should be at the wheel of the ambulance.

"Quick I can do." With people already pulling out of the way for the emergency vehicle's lights, Duo found the path to Trowa's rather unfettered, resulting in a trip much quicker than he'd expected. He was rewarded with Trowa already out front, though honestly, he expected no less. He leaned over, popping the door open as he pulled to the curb, motioning silently for Trowa to get into the passenger seat.

"It's the real deal this time, dude."

In the back of the ambulance, Heero pulled open his laptop, which he had brought with him. There was some sort of device with an antennae plugged into the USB- it looked like he was getting internet. Typing away, he looked up when they arrived at Trowa's- and turned the computer to Duo.

"There." Google Maps? "We are going there. Take a look at the directions; it isn't far. This place will be a safe haven for Relena while we take care of the threat. Trowa, do you need briefing or did you catch the info I gave Duo on the post?"

Nodding to both boys, he kicked open a trunk in the back; it was loaded with guns. "They won't be a problem." He began loading them, eyes darting up every so often to lookout the windows, in case the enemy showed up suddenly. "But they are following us; this I am sure of. Drive."

Relena looked between Heero and the front of the vehicle. "What... What do you mean "safe haven?" Her eyes trained on Heero now, not quite getting what was going on. She gathered that the people following them were related to her father's murder but what was the need for a safe place for her? What about...

"Heero," she said, voice firm for the first time in what seemed like forever. "Where are you taking me?"

Without a word, when the car pulled up in front of his house Trowa got to his feet and hopped inside. "I got the briefing," he said quietly, putting his backpack down on the ground very, very carefully. After that, he fell silent, waiting and listening and watching, alert as could be. His gaze did flicker back to Relena briefly when she spoke, but after that he just settled himself in his seat, hands close to his sides.

Duo peered at the computer screen, an eyebrow arched as he took it in. "I can get us there all right. Just let me know when trouble shows up." Throwing the car back into drive, he pulled forward, waiting until they hit the main streets to turn on the sirens again. His eyes roamed about, checking the mirrors as he sped on, hoping that the idea of suddenly being pursued by gunfire was just healthy paranoia on Heero's part... but knowing it probably wasn't.

Heero's eyes flicked up again before continuing his tasks. "You will be safe there. We will be barricading the only entrance way inside in order to dispose of the threat. You will stay there until I alert you that the threat has been neutralized."

With everything loaded, he kept a vigilant watch around them, not pressed up to the window but in a position close enough to be able to see out the windows pretty well.
They were almost there. It was then that Heero suddenly stood, sliding off his safety and opening the back doors, but not pushing them open yet. "Stop by that alley with the able to open into it. Cover me." Grabbing Relena's wrist, he pulled her out with him and broke into a run towards he entrance to a loading dock, the back doors providing cover for the bullets that began to fire at them from a white van that had suddenly appeared, the drivers leaning out to shoot before skidding to a stop, more exiting the vehicle and using the doors as shields as they shot.

'Heero, what about my mother?' She wanted to ask, but decided against it. Knowing her, her mother was safe in the hands of the FBI and police. Then again, knowing her mother they had already discovered her missing. Maybe when they got inside this place Relena could call them to make sure her mother knew she was safe. The police didn't matter when it came to her family.

She tensed when Heero suddenly stood and opened the doors. They had to be there, she thought. That was why he had taken the safety off of his gun, right? When he pulled her out she wasn't expecting the gunfire. Relena screamed, running behind Heero as shots rang out. She could hear them whistling past her head from under the wig. Something tugged at her other arm and she cried out, this time in pain.

When the ambulance drew to a halt, Trowa was already opening the door, slinging on his backpack and jumping to the ground. "Stay here, I'll take the high ground and we can divide their attention," he said to Duo as he darted into the narrow alley between the two buildings they had parked next to, after Heero and Relena, but only covered a short stretch. There was a fire escape on the back of one of the apartment buildings, and Trowa bounded up it, then grabbed onto the edge of the roof and swung himself up.

On top of the building, he lay flat on the roof, shrugging off the backpack and putting it aside, then taking out his gun and, with his elbows, pulling himself over to the edge on his stomach. Then, very quickly, he leaned over, flicked off the safety, and aimed in one fluid motion, hitting one of the men in his shooting hand. The man yelled, dropping the gun - perfect - and cradling his injured limb. Trowa had already rolled back from the edge of the building, far enough to shield himself from the volley of shots which ( ... )

As everyone else left the vehicle, Duo shook his head, retrieving his own gun from his pocket and shoving back from the door, keeping his head out of sight of the window until after the first set of bullets spiderwebbed the glass with tiny fractures. Grimacing, he slid the safety off and waited a few more seconds before twisting from his position, barely visible behind the window's ruined surface before he raised the butt of his handgun, slamming it hard against the window until it finally exploded in a shower of safety glass ( ... )

Heero's eyes darted here and there, pulling Relena behind the corrugated steel of the dock door. He ignored her cries, and the bullets whizzing by, as if it was old hat. Once they were behind the protection of the steel, he led her deep within the sealed-off storage room of the dock, sliding open the heavy door. "You will be safe in here. Remain until I come for you and no sooner," he ordered her- his expression blank and hardened. Glancing to her wound, he took her by the arm to examine it. "Minor." He dug out a roll of bandages, handing them over. "You will survive this ( ... )

Relena looked around. It was a simple area which looked like someone could possible stay there for a period of time. Had Heero prepared this area for her, she wondered silently, turning towards him as he spoke.

"Ok," she nodded. "But what are you..." Her sentance trailed off as he held up her arm. The wound was small and was slowly soaking her shirt with blood. A minor wound that would heal into nothing more than a small scar. She looked up at Heero and frowned. "Heero, what are you going to do?"

By the time she had finished he had already turned and was out the door. Sighing, she sat on the ground with the bandages in hand. "Please be careful," she whispered.

How long did they have until the police arrived? It couldn't be that long. Trowa's mind raced. Fingerprints - he was okay. Gloves. He had no intention of giving any of the enemy enough time to catch enough of a glimpse of him for later identification. Okay. He rolled over to the edge again and fired two shots, getting the tires of one of the vans. See them try to get away in that.

Trowa had time for one more shot, catching the man who was advancing upon the ambulance in the leg, before he had to withdraw again. Hearing the machine gun shots ring out, he smiled thinly, envisioning the man on the ground and thinking guess I just saved your life.

After that, he just fell into a steady pattern of sniping, exchanging shots with the men, who were starting to hang back and cover themselves except when shooting, now.

"You...'re always prepared. Psychopathic boy scout from Hell." Duo grinned, adjusting the set on his head. "Channel 4, I'll keep it open." Clicking the dial into place, he laid down some additional fire as Heero jumped from the ambulance, then shoved himself back to grab the automatic left behind. Sliding forward again, he leaned the barrel out the window, setting off a spray of fire chaotic enough to duck a head or two... and maybe hit someone stupid.

Peering out, he saw that someone was indeed on the ground, bleeding; another pop to make sure, and he ducked back, taking note of the other men's positions as he did so. Heero, I hope you know what you're doing... he thought before firing another concentrated spray, opposite of the shots ringing from above. Thank God for Trowa...

Heero ran, the bag he carried clinking heavily, but he was careful not to let it jiggle too much. He kept running- 2 blocks east, then 2 blocks back south- there. He caught a hold of the fire escape on the building at the corner he arrived on and climbed it quickly, inching towards the opposite ledge. Clear. He made his way down the other side, then up the opposite fire escape. He cautiously crawled, flat down against the roof, towards the ledge. They were there- exchanging fire with his comrades across the way. Good, they hadn't noticed him. He flashed a signal to Trowa, hoping he'd see him and direct their attention away from his position ( ... )
