Rally Stood nervously over looking the Ball room. Tables had all been set with candle, and starched white table clothes, music was softly coming out of the speakers and the Dj finished setting up. His lights played over the dim room splashing color here and there

Zack walked into the ballroom, sharply dressed in a three-piece suit and tie. His cousin Elliot was sneakier than he had thought - for the past couple months, instead of taking the money Zack was prone to leaving on the kitchen counter and using it toward rent, Elliot had been putting it away to buy Zack a suit for the homecoming dance.

It didn't look like the rest of the team was there yet, so Zack wandered his way through the sparse amount of people that had arrived so far and found a table to sit at. Dancing was no fun unless you had someone to dance with, after all.

She wasn't sure why she came to the homecoming dance. Lavi had said he was coming so it surprised her. But there was no sign of the red-haired man. Tohru akwardly stood by a table, looking around nervously as she fumbled with her gloved hands.

Tohru decided to dress up in a style that was reminded of the 20-30's period. The dress was a bit abover her knee in a dark green with matching wrist-length gloves and black hat. It was modest enough for her and made her turqoise eyes shimmer more under the lighting. Her hair, now at her shoulders, was curled and framed her face. She adjusted her hat, now staring at the floor. Tohru knew she should have just stayed home.

Zack looked up and spotted a girl standing near his table. He didn't know her personally - he'd seen her around, hadn't introduced himself - but she looked out of place and uncomfortable. Zack knew how that felt.

"Hi!" he said cheerfully, throwing her an easy, hopefully comforting smile. "Why don't you sit down? Then we'd both have someone to talk to."

Tohru jumped when she heard the voice, turning around to look at the young man. Were they in a class together? He looked really familiar. She pointed to herself, blinking dumbly before giving a shy smile and going to sit next to him.

"Hehe, y-yes quite.I suppose you didn't come with anyone either?" she asked.

"Nah, I ended up unattached for the evening. But hey, it's more fun if you come just to hang around friends, right?" She was just a sweetheart. "I'm Zack. What's your name?"

She laughed, nodding her head in agreement.
"Zack? OH! I think we have a class together!" Tohru smiled brightly," I'm Tohru, its nice to meet you. eheh..well..see you I guess!"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure we have at least one class together," he said. "Nice to see that you're here! Nobody should have to sit at home when there's fun going on. Did you come with any friends?"

What's an adorable girl like you doing here alone? is what he wanted to ask - but she was so shy, he was sure that would scare her away. And he really wasn't trying to be flirty - just to be nice.

Tohru laughed nervously, rubbing her cheeks as she stared at the table," Ah-um..well..I've been looking for them but I can't seem to find them. But its ok! Maybe I'll bump into them later."

She gave a smile," But I do agree, I would probably be sitting at my desk now drawing or painting."

"I'm sure you'll find them. And hey, painting's really cool - I'm not talented at all with art stuff." He grinned. "Are you waiting for your friends to get here so you can dance?"

"Oh- no..I..I'm kinda nervous to dance." She fidgeted with her hands and she blushed, giving him a shy smile," I feel like I look stupid when I do dance.." Tohru replied.

"Aww, come on. I bet you're a great dancer." Zack grinned - at least Clairbourn had better taste in music than his last school - St. Luke's wasn't exactly known for its high school dances, and the nuns patrolled really strictly. So far the music hadn't been that great, but he could swear he heard the opening tones of 'Zoot Suit Riot.'

"You look like you just stepped out of this era! You have to dance to this one. Come on," he said, getting up and offering his hand. "Dance? As friends."

Tohru blushed at his compliment," Tha-thank you so much!"

At his request, she almost said no..after all she had a Fiance` but the music seemed so much fun to dance along to. It would be surprising if no one was moving with the tune. Tohru looked up at him, giving him a shy smile before grabbing his hand a bit excitedly.

"O-ok! Hehe, but you're one to talk. You look like you stepped out with me!" She laughed.

"Do you know how to swing? Nevermind, I'll teach you!" Zack was grinning like someone had just plugged in the sun. "Come on!" He led her out on the dance floor, leading her in the kind of swing that was mostly shoulders and hips and little contact. He couldn't stop smiling - it was fun, most fun he'd had at a dance in a while.

Tohru squeaked when she was pulled onto the dance floor, stumbling a little in her heels. When they stood up she felt small again. Zack was tall too. With all the moves, she let him take the lead.
The music was wonderful and she was giggling as she twirled and jumped a little.

"Heheh this is so much fun Zack!" She laughed she threw her hat to their table in mid spin, landing in Zack's arms before spinning out. Her skirt flared with her movements. Tohru never had this much fun in a long time.
