WHO: Simon, Gina
WHAT: A not-so-double date.
WHEN: June 21st (deliciously backdated)
WHERE: In front of the NYC hotel.
WARNINGS: Awkward turtles abound.
The sun beating down on the concrete pavement in front of their hotel did nothing to improve Simon's mood. Which wasn't to say, of course, that he was in a particularly bad mood. It just seemed like Kamina was constantly, constantly, plotting to put him into the most awkward situations possible. Sure, it was all fine to say "Hey, Simon, me and Orihime wanna go out tonight, you should come and bring Gina." because, yeah... They were all friends. But Kamina and Orihime were dating. That made it different. And it wouldn't have been so bad if Lavi, or Tohru, or Yoyo, or just anyone else were coming along. But no. It was clear that Kamina was setting him up for a double date. When were they gonna get it that he and Gina were just friends? Sure, Simon liked her, he could at least admit to that... But it didn't matter. He wasn't really her type, anyway, so he could be happy with being friends.
Didn't mean that he wanted to be shoved awkwardly into a date, though.
To make matters worse, not ten minutes ago Kamina had called to tell him that he and Orihime wouldn't be coming after all. After a conversation of "... Really, is she okay?" "No seriously, I can help." "Yeah, I guess... but..." "Fine, tell her to get better for me." He had learned that Orihime had gotten some kind of food poisoning and that Kamina was staying behind to help her out. Judging by the background noise, though, wherever they were didn't sound much like a hotel room. Simon suspected a set up, but it was too late to call Gina by that point anyway.
She'll be here soon, and I'll just ask her if she still wants to go out. Yeah. She'll probably say 'no' anyway and we can just go back to look after Orihime with Aniki. He shuffled his feet, waiting for her to arrive. But what if she still wanted to go out? They had both been looking forward to seeing the nightlife... Why should they change their plans just because Kamina was being a jackass. And Hime could legitimately be sick too.
Probably not. Simon could have sworn he heard her giggling over the phone.
