Roxas had never felt so awkward in his life. Usually he was exceedingly laid back and chill, but the combination of nerves about possibly losing his memories again, weariness from the adrenaline wearing off...and oh yeah a girl on his bed just had him kind of edgy. He felt the inane urge to make conversation, and that hadn't happened since that one time in second grade when he'd been shoved into a broom closet with Janie Angelou during a fire drill. So uh, what's your dad do for a living?

He had a feeling that line of questioning wasn't really appropriate here.

Shifting where he sat at the foot of his own bed, he turned the ice pack with a bit of a grimace. "You sure are upbeat," he noted informatively. "It's like nothing ever gets you down. That's pretty cool. I try and be that way; usually works pretty well." He smirked a bit. "Axel's real laid back and snarky, so that's usually how I am too, but when things go wrong it really bothers him. I try and be kinda carefree about stuff, to make up for it, I guess ( ... )

Orihime opened her mouth to protest that really, truly, she was okay with sleeping in her skirt. But she shut it again, because Axel was off, and he gave that aura of not accepting arguments of any kind. She smiled. Stubbornly kind... He was a good person. They both were! So, she followed Roxas back to his room, wondering if it was really okay. It was one thing to wake up there, and entirely another (she thought) to willingly walk inside. It almost felt like trespassing. She wondered what Tatsuki would say about it...if she /told/ Tatsuki, anyway. Orihime wasn't sure if she should or not, it would just upset her ( ... )

Somehow, he relaxed at that, and even laughed, a lot of his tension gone. Maybe he was really just worried she'd feel all awkward around him or something. Axel was usually a lot better with the girls; Roxas tended to get kinda quiet when they were around, usually because Axel was there to pick up the slack. "Nah, there's not much to tell. You're welcome to know all there is about me, though--it's just not too exciting ( ... )

Orihime laughed. The way Roxas talked, it sounded like Axel had a lot in common with Ichigo. "You guys seem really close! It's a really nice bond to see ( ... )

Axel leaned silently on the doorjamb, his long arms folded and one thin brow arched. He'd been standing there long enough to hear most of what Roxas had been saying, and while he honestly didn't mind that Orihime now knew rather unnervingly personal stuff about their family, he had to admit he was a little surprised that Roxas had been so willing to just yammer on about it ( ... )

"Like they ever did in the first place," Roxas snarked, with absolutely no intention to apologize. "And there's no real reason I shouldn't; she asked, and it's not like it's a big secret or something." He shrugged. "Hell, the whole hospital knows about it--that's a ton of people I don't even know. I figure if a bunch of people I don't even know are in on the loop, I can't really not tell a friend if they ask. It's not like I was all 'Oh I'm so very sad; Orihime listen to my sad sad story' or anything." He made a pouty face to go along with the mimic, and winked at Orihime at the end.

"Besides, you are a big sap, you're too new here to have street cred, and Hime won't tell, will you?"

Axel rolled his eyes and ruffled Roxas's hair. "Down, Cujo," he chuckled; "you don't have to explain. I was kidding." Then he sat down on the corner of the bed. "And I know we're new in town--I'd like to think we have some rollover street-cred minutes though, you know?"

"The only rollover you get is when you find a stray puppy, Axel," Roxas quipped with a grin. "Though I guess the ladies might think you're pretty badass, since you're from New York and all--what do you think, Hime? On a scale of one to street-cred, how cool is Axel?"

Orihime couldn't help chuckling against her knuckle as she watched the two. They were like brothers! It actually reminded her a lot of the way she and Tatsuki would get whenever they had a chance to hang out.

She had no trouble answering that question whatsoever. "Oh, twelve at least, both of you!" Orihime cheered. "You beat up a bunch of thugs that were up to no good and rescued a future classmate. That'll make all the girls go 'woooooo!'" Most of them would certainly have been swooning.

"But it's okay. I already knew Axel was nice from minute one! It was pretty brave, you know, trying to fight them all at once."

Axel buffed his fingernails on the front of his shirt. "Yeah, that was pretty brave, wasn't it?" he asked with a sly feline grin. Then he chortled and scratched the back of his neck almost awkwardly. "Ah, seriously, it was no big deal," he assured her then. "I ain't really prone to playing the Good Samaritan, but only a real jackass would just let a girl get beaten up. Indubitable fame amongst my future classmates notwithstanding, it wasn't like I really had a choice." He jerked a thumb toward Roxas. "'Sides, this guy woulda beat the hell out of me if he heard I left you to your own devices ( ... )

"Oh, that's a good idea!" Orihime piped up. Tatsuki liked wearing things like that for bed. Maybe with shorts? Orihime couldn't really tell, the shirts were pretty long. But it'd be just like a spring dress, and that was perfectly okay with her. "I'll do that, thanks!"

She paused, blinking curiously at Axel once he made his last remark. Then she lifted her wrist to examine her watch.

H-hold on a minute, she was joking, right?

"Uhm..." Roxas was awkwardly silent for a few moments, and then slid off the bed, padding over to his dresser and grabbing a pair of black and red checkered pj pants from the second drawer. "Uh, here. I guess. Don't...with the no bottoms; even if Axel was being serious about that, Sage would flip fruitbats if you weren't wearing pants. So...yeah." And he cleared his throat, scowling disapprovingly at Axel.

Really, offering to let Orihime sleep in his bed with no bottoms on? It was like Axel thought he dug the girl or something.

Not that he didn't like her or anything. But liking and digging were two very different things, and--anyway. "...Especially if you're making pancakes in the morning."

There. Awkwardness diffused. Sorta.

"Hm? Well, all right!" she beamed agreeably. It didn't really matter one way or the other to her what she wore or didn't wore. She just didn't want to add to their laundry. However, if they insisted, especially on grounds of their comfort levels, then she'd wear the pants! She held them up in front of her, knowing they would be too long, but all she had to do was roll up the cuffs. "These are cute," she blinked. She might have to make some her size. Later, of course.

"Well thank you very much, you guys have been really nice to me, a total stranger and everything! It means a lot." Orihime really was touched. This level of kindness was extraordinarily rare, particularly from teenagers.

Laying the pajama pants on her lap, she lifted her head and raised a finger. "You guys should join the Gurren Brigade. I think you'd really love it! We have all kinds of crazy activities and get-togethers, and I'm positive you'd fit right in!"

Axel cracked a grin. "You're in the Brigade?" he asked. "We actually got invited by Simon back before the big paintball to-do... I didn't see you there."

He glanced at Roxas then, something like confused apology in his eyes. What'd the kid look so peeved for? ...Well, he kinda always looked peeved, but this looked like something a little more than his usual I am generally irritated at nothing in particular face. Was it the girl sleeping in his bed deal? Axel was pretty convinced that girls didn't have cooties by this time, and besides...he and Roxas had gotten Cootie Shots back in elementary school anyway. They were safe; those shots were good for life.

He glanced back at Orihime and waved a hand dismissively. "Ah, faghedaboudit," he said lazily. "Pretty much everyone in this town's a total stranger to us right now; if we waited for someone to give us a reason to do something decent we'd never make any friends, you know?" He chuckled. "You're a lot more grateful than anybody I've ever met anyway, for the record," he ( ... )

"Yeah yeah, not that she needs it or anything," Roxas grumbled under his breath, flashing a quick grin at Orihime in case she'd heard him and then quickly grabbing some PJs of his own before scuffling towards the door. "If you need anything, we'll be just down the hall on the right. Bathroom's just across the hall from here; you know where the kitchen is... 'Night, Hime."

And with that he ducked out of the room through the plethora of space between Axel's hip and the door jamb.

Orihime's eyes lit up. They were already in the brigade! This was AWESOME! "Then we'll get to see each other a whole lot in the future!" she clasped her hands together, beaming. "Maybe you guys will join the movie too? I'm working on the costume designs!" She couldn't remember the name of her part, though. It used to be Priestess of Mist, wasn't it? Ah well, she'd look over her notes once she got back home.

She seemed surprised that Axel was /attacked/ for saving someone. That was pretty awful! But then she smiled. "I'm glad it didn't jade you. Would've been pretty bad, ha ha!" she grinned crookedly, rubbing the back of her neck.

Her cheeks colored happily at Roxas's remark. "Hee hee! Thanks! Good night Roxas, Axel." She bowed her head, folding her hands on her lap. "See you in the morning!"
