Court Dance

May 06, 2010 14:55

Since this Promenade is coming up again, and there were issues with low-class "dancing" last year, I would like to extend the invitation to anyone who is interested in learning proper court dances to come to the ballet club meeting this Saturday. Normal ballet practice is cancelled so that this could fit into a schedule.

Court dances are a proper dance, with grace and elegance, that reflect the refinement each dancer has learned. Normally people would start learning books and books and books of court dances at age six or seven, but since this is just one occurrence, you'll only need to learn one or two, and they are very easy to perform. There is no fancy technique like ballet, so those of you scared of coming because you fear it will be too similar, take ease. Ballet evolved from these dances, so they are much more toned-down.

We will learn two court dances, which can be used at the promenade. They are to be done as a group, and I think it would be nice to see the whole of this place working together as one.
