Wanted: a tiny bit of enthusiasm

Aug 19, 2009 23:04

I can't write - or what I write, I'm less than happy with. Managing to pull out a fic is like pulling teeth, and it's making me frustrated and moody. As though I needed this to be moody. I can do moody on my own.'It' will come back at some point. Maybe. I don't know when, which is the issue because I need my daily or weekly dose of writing. I've ( Read more... )

If it helps, I never get bored with your fics, my friend. I'm probably the saddest person in the fandom because I can't help clinging and I won't be moving on for some time yet (if ever!).

But I do get that peeps need to move on to keep writing. I can only hope that you would still visit with our beloved PB characters occasionally.

Maybe you just need the right bunny? I have a warren full of them!! Mostly put there by chanchito_z who can come up with fabulous bunnies but, like you, is struggling to write.

But if there's anything I can do to help you just have to ask! :)

It does help *clings* although I think this sensation is mostly because of irritation at myself. That said, if I do bore people... those little things at the right side of their screen are scrollbars :-p

I think it's part of the issue: for now at least, I don't really want to move on. I want because I go round in circles but at the same time, I don't want (I'm a Pisces, I'm supposed to be indecisive ;)) because I like the characters so much ( ... )

Which I only use to scroll further down the fic all the better to read it!! :)

Ah, Pisces. That explains a lot!! With it's symbol of one little fish swimming one way and the other in the opposite direction I suppose it does denote indecision! But being a water sign myself means I get on well with Pisceans so that's a good thing!

Liking the characters so much means it's hard to let go, isn't it? That's why I'm staying put for now...and I also can't find other characters in other shows that inspire me to write fic. I've tried; I have. But Michael Scofield, beautiful, moral, tortured Michael Scofield is such a hard act to follow.

I do regret a few things, especially not having got into the English-speaking fandom a bit sooner or not having interacted more with some people.Hindsight makes it look easy but making decisions without that 20/20 vision...much more difficult. I'm glad you did see fit to get into the English-speaking ( ... )

Exactly. We poor underwater beings are dragged into opposite directions. It hurts!
I thought Gemini went further in your birth month and that you were one, but indeed, you're a water sign too *high fives you*

lol, this is so true. I'm glad I eventually managed to hop in ;-)

The fandom has been great fun but I suppose now there are only a handful of us who are lingering.

Watching the fandom depopulate is a bit sad, but it was expected, wasn't it? I thought, and hoped, more people would stay around for a little while, though. I'm not going to blame S4 and rant about it again but... I just did blame S4 and rant about it, huh? :-p

Writing gen is, I believe, more difficult than writing het or slash. I think in gen fics you have to find a focus and in het or gen the focus is usually the main pairing.

I usually try to have a 'couple' pairing + theme, even when it's het or slash because I am obssessive and like having some guiding thread. ( ... )

I've read this and loved it but I'm leaving for a late lunch and then the theatre shortly so no time at the moment to reply properly...that'll be tomorrow!

Hope you did manage to avoid the myriad Michael/Sucre plot bunnies in the warren! *giggles*

Have a good afternoon.
*hugs*

Right, time for a proper reply!

We poor underwater beings are dragged into opposite directions. It hurts!

It does!! We water signs are much put upon! ;)

I thought Gemini went further in your birth month and that you were one, but indeed, you're a water sign too *high fives you*

I'm right on the cusp. If I had been born a day earlier I would have been a Gemini like the lovely WM! But yes, we're both water signs! *high fives back*

I'm glad I eventually managed to hop in ;-)

So am I!! :D

Watching the fandom depopulate is a bit sad,

It really is, but you're right that it's not unexpected. It would have been good if more people had stuck around for a while longer...though I'm not going to rant about S4 and blame it but it didn't help matters!! either...oh! I did it too! ;)

the presence of a pairing makes it easier to skip the 'theme' part and focus on the pairing.

Handy for a lazy person like me!

I don't especially find it more difficult to write, though, but I do need to fangirl harder, probably because it appeals to, um, less ( ... )

Mee too! Sometimes, I'm listed as an Aquarius *shrugs*

though I'm not going to rant about S4 and blame it but it didn't help matters!! either...oh! I did it too! ;)

It's hard not to. Michael begs to be slashed, S4 begs to be bashed ;-)
OK, not really because I don't like bashing, but well...

It must have been difficult to move with all those damned MiSu plot bunnies pervading the place!!

They're quite rabid. Just a glance at the one in the default icon and you know they're not here to kid!
As for the tags... oh, yes, always very handy!

I missed a 'slash'

Wow. What a strange sentence to read from you ;-)

I've occasionally been listed as Gemini too! Odd!

Michael begs to be slashed, S4 begs to be bashed ;-)

*giggles* No, don't like bashing either but...aand there wasn't nearly enough slashy overtones between Michael and Sucre! Sorry! ;)

Very rabid! That icon cracked me up though! :D

Wow. What a strange sentence to read from you ;-)

LOL!! It was, wasn't it?

And talking about cracking up your icon never fails! The perfect phrase for Michael's pose! ;)

LOL, honestly, I don't like bashing either, even when it's about characters I don't appreciate. It's just that I'm weak and I liked the structure of the sentence :-p

there wasn't nearly enough slashy overtones between Michael and Sucre!
Huuuuge weakness ;-)
Seriously, Sucre left without even saying good bye to Michael *headdesk*

French TV was re-airing season 3 recently: last saturday, I saw the scene used in the icon and couldn't help giggling all by myself *g*

It was a brilliantly structured sentence, to be sure, and you should make no apologies! :)

Yes, the lack of slashy MiSu overtones was one of the biggest weaknesses of Season 4 that and the whole Christina rubbish!!

Cool moment! And if I see it again I'll know I'll giggle too! *g*

I never thought I would say this, but I watched the first three episodes of S4 last night and there actually were a couple of cute moments between Michael and Lincoln: Michael watching Lincoln arrive in Chicago after he's been arrested in Panama, Lincoln roughing up Roland because he doesn't move when Michael say 'move', Lincoln being an asshole with Mahone - sadly, it is a good point for me :-p -Lincoln grabbing an ax to save baby brother locked in a room...

The whole thing still feels awfully rushed, though. And - what a coincidence - I had something to do in the kitchen when they removed the tattoo ^____^

Season 4 wasn't all bad, was it? Not enough brotherly moments but we had a few.

Lincoln being an asshole with Mahone - sadly, it is a good point for me :-p

Yes, I get that! Though I did quite like how a kind of kinship grew between Lincoln and Alex as the season went on because it showed Lincoln's empathy as a father himself. Though I'm not entirely sure I could slash the two of them as some have!

Lincoln grabbing an ax to save baby brother locked in a room...

Oh I treally loved that!! Totally determined!Lincoln is lovely! :)

You couldn't sit through the tattoo removal?!! I felt it was a painful chance to say goodbye to a much-loved character. :(

I liked Lincoln snarling and picking on Mahone (I'm afraid I'm petty like that ^_^) but I have to admit that having them 'bond' over their kids was a rather nice subplot.

Though I'm not entirely sure I could slash the two of them as some have!

It's okay, sweetie. Even you can't slash everybody *grins and hugs*

It really was a coincidence that I wasn't watching when they removed the tattoo, but a good coincidence. Watching the scene one time was enough for me ;)

Well, Mahone did kill his father! That's kind of not petty! The "bonding" was a very nice touch though and it did provoke a feeling of kinship in Linc, didn't it? :)

It's okay, sweetie. Even you can't slash everybody

*giggles* No matter how hard I try, right?!!

The tattoo removal was rather painful to watch, wasn't it? And sad in a way too. That tatt had done so much to save Linc. :(

Ahem, yes, but I already disliked Mahone before he killed their father. I'm not sure why. I started S2 rather liking him and the more it went, the less I could stand him. Maybe it's because I hoped the writers would make him a valuable but honest opponent to Michael. I know that, actually, he's not a bad guy but I was disappointed that he worked for the Company too *shrugs*

*giggles* No matter how hard I try, right?!!

Oooh, I wouldn't go that far. I'm pretty sure that with the right incentive, you'd manage to come up with something *ducks and hides*

That tatt had done so much to save Linc. :(

Yes. And it was the symbol, too. It was supposed to mark him forever and show how far he'd been willing to go to save Lincoln. And yes, I get there are other things that show this too, but well... SYMBOL, damn PTB!

Ahem, yes, but I already disliked Mahone before he killed their father.

Oooh! You're terrible, you are!! ;) But I think Mahone did go through a phase where he really wasn't likable, like killing David and inducing Haywire's suicide. Though we did find out eventually that he was as much a victim of the company as anyone, really. He came good in the end though, huh? And I liked that he ended up with Felicia Lang.

I'm pretty sure that with the right incentive, you'd manage to come up with something *ducks and hides*

You might well duck and hide! You know I'd only ever slash Michael with...well, practically any man on the show who had a pulse, really!! *titters*

It was supposed to mark him forever and show how far he'd been willing to go to save Lincoln.

That's it exactly!! Okay, the toes and the burn were kind of symbolic but the tatt was BEAUTIFUL as well as beautifully symbolic!! PTB sucked when they did that...how often did we see Michael without a shirt or thick woolly jumper on in Season 4 anyway?!!! *tuts ( ... )
