When he saw her again, he kissed her.
He turned around when someone called his name and she was right there behind him. For a few seconds - or maybe it was a few hours as far as he knows - he stared at her without understanding what the hell was going on, and then, before he could realize it, he kissed her. On the mouth. Holding her face in his hands, squashing her against him and almost lifting her off the ground. An instinctive reaction to make sure she was actually there and alive, safe and sound.
She let it happen, complacent and passive, her skin warm against his and her breathing a bit harsh on his cheek proving that he was really not hallucinating. He felt her smiling against his lips and he realized that he must have done something funny; he couldn’t have told what if his life had been at stake, though.
He didn’t stop until he was called to order: there was a punch in his shoulder and then a “Daddy!” uttered by LJ, half amused, half shocked.
He finally lifted his head, met Sara’s amused glance and then Michael’s - although Michael was not amused, he was frowning, and Lincoln thought that maybe his behavior was a tad inappropriate. Would totally have explained why Sara was smiling anyway.
“You look like you just saw a ghost, Lincoln,” she pointed out with a rather shitty sense of humor.
“Sorry. Well, not really... you know what I mean.”
“You can let her go now,” Michael said.
Right.
“You know, Sara,” his traitor of a son said, “I’m glad to see you again too.”
Still half-smiling, Sara bent forward and, like a joke only the two of them could get, LJ kissed her forehead.
