Alright, It's been a month and a half since my last post and a lot has happened, so I thought I'd update you all (that and my TV is broken so I have nothing better to do).
First of all, the girl in question from my previous two posts, in rare form, actually meant it when she said she wanted to be "just friends" and we've become fairly close. For my birthday she took me to see the touring production of "Rent" when it was in town and we went to see "Hair" together as well. It's nice to have a friend to go on pseudo-dates with again (*sigh* Steffie, why aren't you in Toronto where you're useful to me?) but it did lead to some awkwardness between me and the guy she was seeing. Yes I said "was", but don't worry i'm not still carrying a torch, I don't sit on the back burner for nobody.
Also in the "affairs of the heart" section of the news, I've had to fend of the advances of a girl from work who's a little on the young side for me and acts even younger. This has lead to a whole ugly level of workplace drama that I heretofore have been able to avoid being involved in. Especially since the "young girl" is jealous of "just friends girl"'s friendship with me and is taking it out on her, even going so far as to bring their conflict to the attention of management. I've also been the subject of several (about a half dozen that have gotten back to me) rumors around the store lately. They seem to think my social life is interesting, if only they knew. I'm considering running away to Guam and changing my name to Bob Dobbs to escape further entanglement.
In career news I just finished filming my first feature length indie film "An Exertion of Influence". It's a heisty type film and I play the mandatory computer geek on the side of the "good" guys. I'm really happy about this one, although filming did cause me to miss the launch party for the
Patrick Grey book, which is a bummer because apparently the character of Tim is loosely based on me. I also recently auditioned for my first musical in seven years. I saw the posting online and I thought what the hell this scares me just enough that it might be good for me. So after a quick $60 singing lesson (once again Stef, you are nowhere useful) I dragged my ass down to the Equity Theatre and auditioned for "Grease". Much to my surprise I got a callback audition for one of the T-birds (they never told me which one). I didn't end up getting a part but it was narrowed down to like 12 guys, so yay me! Plus this inspires me to take more singing lessons. (seriously, get your ass out here Stef) and some dance lessons too.
Work has sucked, and my manager has started doing things like changing the schedule without checking with the employees first, and I'm picking up signs of annoyance at my random personal days for filming so I may not have a in a few months, but you know what? I kinda hope that they do decide to can me, It'll force me off my ass and make me try something new. Who knows? Maybe even New York. I'm sure I can find some Off-off Broadway stuff that'll pay me under the table.
P.S. - Please send T.V.
