thinking of things
well, mostly valentine's day things. when did it become the expensive gift/chocolate/flower/new cell phone giving day that it is now? i remember in elementary school when everyone made their own cards and mailboxes at school and you were able to bake your own cupcakes to bring in for your party. then the food poisoning scare forced everyone to purchase cupcakes/snacks, no biggie.
now... the commercials for v day seem to make us females look like greedy whores! "you won't be THE man if you don't get me the diamond earrings or the pendant or the bracelet or the whole set!" "you won't be a man if you don't get me this or that." "if you don't get us reservations at such and such restaurant, you suck!"
what happened to the v day when a significant other could show love by taking over the other's typical household duties like cooking or laundry or dishes? are there none of us low maintenance ladies left? geez, just pay a little more attention to me on v day, make me a card if you must. a single day of love shouldn't be definined by expensive gifts, just tell me you love me.
oh, and a surprise note is always a plus!!
