I have become totally addicted to online chess.

I play at www.redhotpawn.com and I love the reactions I get when I tell people about it. Great name. They have system where on default you have three days to make a move, but people generally tend to move a lot quicker. And I love that system.

I played a bit of chess during high school, and there were a couple of things I didn't like. One was that I made a lot of blunders. Another was that I found it annoying to play against people who had studied more openings than me. Both are bad excuses for losing and that's exactly how I used them. Luckily internet chess helps me with both points and I probably act a bit less like a sore loser now.

Having three days to make a move drastically reduces my blunders, and being able to consult opening theory websites, while playing that very opening, has been a real eye-opener. And before you start calling me a cheater, the website rules specifically say it's legal to read opening theory and study historical game materials.

So if you've ever enjoyed chess I strongly advise you to try online chess. I think it helps you become a better player quicker, and being online it has a nice dosage of that massively-multiplayer-gotta-rank-up-and-prove-yourself feeling too!

Long time no see by the way :)
