more short prose from north of the border...

random thoughts from my trip, before, and after:

writing: [[ i echo silent prayers for every opportune red light: a chance to salvage my thoughts, illegible scribbles on backs of old receipts, blindly excavated from my passenger-seat purse. ]]

don't worry, i'm long over this one, but i guess i'll include it: [[ to my ear i held seashells i had found that day, to hear only the beautiful harmonics of your fingernails carving your voice in the glistening visceral walls, while the chalk dust collected on my skin...why am i reminded of you by of all that i love? ]]

of no avail: [[ three books of poetry, 2 novels, a dictionary, thesaurus, and vocab for a 5-hour car ride and i get carsick when i read...]]

girl i saw: [[it appeared, as though she'd otherwise forget, she'd tried to preserve an entire summer in her skin]]

describing times of the past: [[floating belly-up on my bed, my heart relating its frantic rhyme, i could see the forming tears shake loose from the fringe of each eye with every jolting phrase, deflecting the chorus]]

MS, DB, and DM: [[louder than ever my was my voice, are echos of words i've left unsaid]]

from work: [[more focused on the weather than the road, i clicked the wipers slower to the bass and squinted from time to time as raindrops diverged then stretched the stale world before me into a Monet mural across my windsheild.]]
