Ok, so Mr.
jeffsoesbe tagged me to play his evil little
game.
But, the rules change here, and I'll explain why after I post the rules:
- Link to the person who tagged you.
- Leave a comment on their blog so that their readers can visit yours.
- Post the rules on your blog.
- Share the seven (7) most famous or infamous people you have met. Or go with the original 7 weird things about yourself. Or with Sandra's change and list your 7 favorite writing websites. Lots of choices!
- Tag 7 random people at the end of your post.
- Include links to their blogs.
- Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
I'm not going to tag anyone else, because it's a rule of principle for me never to pass this stuff along, but I will put down my list, because I really enjoyed what other people wrote.
I've met famous athletes, musicians, and actors, but do they really need more publicity? Why are they even as famous as they are? My heroes are charity workers, parents, writers, scientists, philosophers, and poets, and I'll leave it at that.
Here are seven people I would like to have met:
- Galileo Galilei
- Leonardo da Vinci
- Kurt Vonnegut
- Buddha
- Jesus
- Mohammed
- Alexander the Great
- Ghandi
- Socrates
- Isaac Newton
- Lots more...
Is that more than seven? Well, looks like I just broke one more! In for a penny, in for a pound.
Now for the weird stuff:
1) I was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. I was a Senior Patrol Leader and member of the (secret?) Order of the Arrow Society. I have many stories from that time, and a few beers can get them rolling...
2) I am the only non-Brazilian in my company (out of thirty). I'm one of five owners.
3) My cat's name, when translated to English, means "VERY handsome." There is a story behind that.
4) I have a dragon fetish, and you can find dragons in my offices at home and work. Dragons feature prominently in four of my short stories, including "Even Dragons Dance", "The Master's Eggs" (appearing soon in Third Order), and two unpublished stories. In my first novel (unpublished and not trying), a dragon appears in the first two chapters. My default LJ avatar contains two dragons in an embrace, from the first illustration for "Even Dragons Dance" (which happened to be the cover for that issue).
5) My wife has published one more
book than I have.
6) My favorite sports are yoga and fencing, but I haven't fenced in years.
7) My first two conventions were an RPG convention and a Doctor Who convention when I was in my mid-teens (can't remember which came first). Since then, I don't think I've attended any more conventions that weren't related to technology or video games. Although I did attend renaissance festivals for ten consecutive years, from my senior year in high school through my last year in the U.S., even when I changed states in the middle. I'm probably going to Worldcon this year to break my streak.
Bonus) When I was eight years old, my oldest brother brought home a TRS-80 Model I, Level 2 16K black-and-white computer (the famous Trash-80), forever changing my brain patterns and rewriting the course of my life.
And so, to sum it all up:
GEORGE: So, that's it. All of my darkest fears, and... everything I'm capable of. That's me.
JERRY: Yikes. Well, good look with all that.
GEORGE: Where you going? I-I thought I could count on you for a little compassion.
JERRY: I think you scared me straight.
