Yesterday marked 6 years since Steve and I were exclusive :o) We slept in and went for brunch at
Magnolia Cafe. The wait was CRAZY with tons of people waiting outside, but we braved it for 45 mins before being seated inside. My breakfast was wonderful! I got the garden breakfast tacos and a gingerbread pancake. I dont even remember what Steve ordered, but he did like it!
Afterwards, we went to a matinee showing of The Other Boleyn Girl and it was like a field trip for chicks there. I didnt read the book, but if it's anything like the movie, then holy cow! I enjoyed it whereas Steve disliked all of the characters and didnt care for it very much...lol. Ah well! Now I cant wait for season 2 of The Tudors to start!
We then joined the zoo of people at HEB for grocery shopping. It's probably the first time we really grocery shopped since Steve's been home because we were eating out all of the time at first. But, we bought a LOT of food so it should last us a week or 2. I had a lot of dinner plans in mind to make during the week and will attempt cooking a whole chicken in the crock pot at some point!
We came home to relax for a bit before heading out to
Joe DiMaggio's for a nice dinner. The inside was very classy and every table and booth was made of leather. We got an appetizer of fried calamari and veggies. Steve ordered a rack of lamb and I got garlic herb roasted chicken. My food was excellent! Steve liked his lamb, but the side items werent his fav. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves :o)
It was a nice, relaxing day to spend our 6 year mark together despite the cloudy day.
Today I awoke to a typhoon! The dogs refused to go outside even though I went out there with them *sigh* Ah well. Work was the usual and when I came home, Steve and I went to pick up a few items we forgot at the grocery store the day before. I came home to make dinner which came out EXCELLENT! The aromas filled the kitchen and it was intoxicatingl :o)
I made
coconut tilapia (minus the apricot dipping sauce) which came out WONDERFULLY! I also made roasted brussel sprouts that I saw in a Williams Sonoma cook book while waiting at HEB when Steve was getting his coffee that came out really nice. And the last side item was just a brown rice/orzo mixture with garlic and italian seasonings :o) I'm glad I've started cooking dinners at home again--though I just hate how many dishes I have to use!
Anyway, we're gonna hit the sack early...or at least try to :o) Gnite!
